Kingman Letter: Enough with the rants and raves

After the presidential election 20 years ago, the Miner published a letter from Roy Dunton. In his letter, Mr. Dunton ranted and raved how Clinton/Gore were going to destroy this nation with their liberal/progressive agenda. I seem to recall that during the Clinton administration, this country did quite well in job growth and gains in the middle class, and even the banks paid a respectable interest on savings accounts and IRAs. All this, and the top tax rate was 39 percent.

Now the next generation of the Duntons, Scott, writes a column that presents absolutely nothing new but regurgitates the sound bites, rants and raves geared toward the low-information voter by the Republican National Committee. The election is over. Why don't you get out of your box, pull your head out of your low-level micro-thinking and try thinking at the macro level?

The more moderate Republicans at the top of the party have started to realize that the nation's demographics are changing and the party has to change as well. The election pretty well proved where this country is heading. David Frum, a well-known Republican columnist, is the one who stated the problem so well: "GOP - You're old, you're white, you're history."

Scott, perhaps you and all the other low-information types should start working on your rants and raves for four years from now when Hillary becomes the next president.

@ AS

“Every day since Nov.6th we hear of one after another of scandals ref. prior election being with held from the American people.”

Actually that nonsense is only appearing in the Right Wing Loon Idiot Fringe world – everyone else knows it’s just garbage. Well, except for the Republicans being caught in a massive voter fraud attempt.

@ KP

“Somehow Al seems to think that the Democrats won the recent election.”

And we did. Obama is still the president and thanks to God we were saved from the impending doom of a Mormon Theocracy run by an anti-American sleaze.

I will now ask that you provide empirical evdidence that under Clinton 22 million jobs were not created, the budget was nt balanced and that he left a surplus (whoch was immediately squandered by The Criminal) when he left office.

Karel - when one party wins the presidency by one of the largest margins in recent history, and when that same party adds senate and house seats it can't be said it won the election.

Oh and for your America becomes Europe. Europe like America is in a deep recession but most European countries' standard of living is actually about that of the U.S. So yes, the intelligent Americans would like to see us become more European in that sense.

And yea, I'd prefer having my taxes go to help my own countrymen as opposed to paying for military machine that spends 41% of the world's total military expenditures according to the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute

TJ, no I wouldn't say it was racist, I would say it is very inaccurate given the fact the majority of the Democrat Party is Caucasian.

Rick, nothing coerces the banks to do anything except profit. There is no law ever passed that says a bank must give a loan.

Good letter, Al. I was very disappointed reading the letter from Scott.

We see the result of growing up around the radical right wing philosophy and obtaining your "information" through the GOP's propaganda network

@TJ - I wouldn't call it racist, I'd call it misinformed. See, over 50 percent of the population voted for Obama, and 50 percent of the population of america is NOT black, let alone young, so your comment is really far flung. To be fair, referring to the Repugnicants as "old, white, etc" isn't totally fair either. Not all republicans are old or white. But the stereotype certainly aligns with that demographic. You don't picture "young, cultural, dynamic" when you think of republicans. You think "old, rich white guys."

"If Hillary becomes President in 2016, we're going to need a sense of humour, so I hope she wears an all-black witch's outfit for the inauguration ceremony, and cackles loudly after taking the oath of office."

I suppose your candidate would be Sarah Palin? Now that would be funny! She's a real Class Clown!

Al:

I think if you would dig a little deeper, you would find we didn't do nearly as well under Clinton policies as you are portraying here. Nice to give him the credit however because, who is going to check? Well some of us just do.

And in the morality area, a definite F-. That is important as we have gone down hill ever since.

Yeah, good old Clinton. What a guy. He sure gave that position a black eye but you libs all have memory problems. Recently, he is still trying to get Jennifer Flowers, his old girlfriend back. Yeah, he was married to Hillary then and is still now. He even volunteered to wear a hoodie while meeting with her. She wisely said drop dead.

Again, what a guy.

And for the record, in the early 80s I had a Very good friend-her husband was med. ret. U.S.A. pilot shot down in Viet-Nam(one of the worst ever wars for our guys). Their son and mine went to school&played pop warner together. Their coach was a D.P.S. Sgt. and his wife was team mother. One night during the showing of "Masada" which we were all into watching, she went in the bedroom-using the Sgt.'s servicer revolver killed herself. It was one of the number of tradgedys I experienced during 35 1/2 yrs..Who was there for me? My friend whose husband had been shot down. Mine was working 10hr. night shifts and she came over every night after all were asleep for at least a month. She was black and I will never forget her!! We learned a lot from one another and were each enlightened by our friendship. After coming to Kingman we talked-she ask what are you doing now, I told her I went to work as a correction officer and ask what she was doing, she said she had joined the army before she was too old And we both laughed so hard it hard to talk much. Elaine Richardson-I will never forget!

Well Al, talk about low informed-that might be you! So bo got re-elected and we are all suppose to lie down and roll over? Every day since Nov.6th we hear of one after another of scandals ref. prior election being with held from the American people. Just this morning an intern for Sen. Menendez arrested as illegal and registered sex offender. I think you have your head buried in the sand. That is what bo and liberal dems would like for all of to do-NOT gonna happen!! And, the racism that the liberal dems allow by the black caucas can stand on the floor of congress and rant& rave their racial wrath and bo totally ignores it, he also ignores the fact the black panthers put out a hit on George Zimmerman which is absolutely illegal!
So Al you go ahead and stick your head in the sand while the rest of us try to preserve our nation's values!!!

Somehow Al seems to think that the Democrats won the recent election. In fact they did elect a President and retain the Senate. BUT, the wise voters of the good old USA kept a Republican House of Representatives to hold spending in line. This is not the first time we have had such a split.

This years win is nothing like 2008. Democrats do not have the mandate they once had.

I challenge the readers of this column to open their eyes and understand that parties select candidates. Independents elect candidates. Neither party has the numbers to elect. This last election the Democrats convinced independents to support their President. They did not convince them to support their agenda!

Three million registered Republicans that voted for McCain did not vote for Romney. Why? I have an opinion but will let the historians make the call.

Liberals need to take a look at Europe and what their agenda brings. If America wants what the European have it's theirs for the asking. It isn't free!

Thirty seven percent of the USA's GDP ends up in government coffers (City, State, Federal, etc). In France, the worlds number one in health care, it's fifty percent. No where in Europe is the sales tax (VAT) under twenty percent.

Are you prepared to give up thirteen percent of your earnings?

Once again i will ask the question, maybe you can answer it Al because anson refused to last time. If i said, in reference to the democratic party, " youre young, youre black, youre brainwashed" would you say that its racist?

If Hillary becomes President in 2016, we're going to need a sense of humour, so I hope she wears an all-black witch's outfit for the inauguration ceremony, and cackles loudly after taking the oath of office. (By then, maybe Ahmadinejad's body will have been dragged through the Iranian countryside, along with the U.S. ambassadors to remaining Middle East countries dragging their feet into the New World Order. Obama will have had America's military stand down so many times by then, in the face of these acts, that a right-wing military coup will have been attempted. But alas, moralistic right-wingers have a fatal flaw, utterly lacking in their progressive opponents - however far in the background it may appear at times, that being an honourable framework for thinking and action, a feature quite incompatible with wanton genocide and greed born in the depths of hell). So get ready to laugh yourselves right into the grave in 2016. (You wouldn't want to go there sad, would you?)

Al, talk about being a low information type. During the Clinton era, Newt was the one keeping Clinton in check and made him turn to the middle in his second term. The end of big government as we know it. It is your liberal Fed Chairman that is the one keeping interst rates low on savings rates. There is going to be a price to be paid for this also! Remembering a letter from 20 years ago, talk about holding a grudge! When the nation goes bankrupt in a few years, all I can do is say I told you so! I wish you the best with your socialist ideas! The peoblem is you are taking me with you over the edge!

That's funny, I seem to remember Clinton was responsible for coercing banks into giving housing loans to people that couldn't afford them and causing the start of the housing boom and was later to be a big part of what started the recession. I also seem to remember some cheating and then lying under oath. The problem is both parties claim there going to change the world and that their party is going to do it the best. I don't believe Obama will destroy us all, I do believe the many top economists that we are going to loose a lot of money through taxes to pay for Obama's bad decisions, just like we did for bush Sr., Clinton, Bush Jr., and now Obama. So the bottom line as I see it, both party's are crooks funded by big corporations and their only interest is their own power and money and until we rid this country of two corrupt party's, we will never be a great nation again. No need to respond, I don't return to see rebuttals.
