Reader Letter: Armchair warriors

Unlike far too many Americans, when it comes to political issues, I do not march in blind lockstep to any one ideology. I use logic. On some issues I agree with progressive Democrats, on some issues I agree with conservative Republicans.

I will admit that I do find it curious that while many folks with a conservative bent are very, very gung ho when it comes to our country entering into war, a number of notable conservatives never served.

George W. Bush could have gone to Vietnam, but decided to spend his time in the Texas National Guard. Also Dick Cheney, Mitt Romney (none of this five sons served in the military), Newt Gingrich, Paul Ryan, Mario Rubio, Rick Perry, Rick Santorum, Erick Cantor, Herman Cain, Bill Krystol, Bill Bennett, Rush Limbaugh, Michael Savage, Mike Gallagher, Dennis Prager, Bill O'Reilly, Sean Hannity, Dennis Miller, the two guys on Fox and Friends, the two guys on the Five show, Neil Cavuto, Glen Beck, Ann Coulter, Laura Ingraham, Michelle Malkin and - oh yes - the NRA's Wayne LaPierre did not serve.

If I am wrong about any of these people, I surely apologize. The people I have listed sure come across as backing any of this country's war efforts. That is, as long as someone else is toting the weapon.

True blue ideologues! Ya gotta love 'em.

The First Amendment applies to the government, not the opinion blogs of a local privately owned newspaper, sorry.

I agree, however, your only seeing a hint of what's to come. I can't wait to see the reactions from the right once Hillary takes over the reins from Obama. Maybe with a woman in the White House something will get done that is somewhat productive and conducive for a better America.

And yet nom one here has ever been able to prove that my posts are full of BS, whereas those of other reek with BS.

”I for one am tired of the same people dominating the forums, spewing their one sided views of BS.”

Me too and that is why I always debunk the BS posted by LA in particular. It would please me to no end of the web-admin would just stop posting her untruthful comments that she puts forth as facts and not opinions.

Ms Athens

“Hats off to McCain and Rand Paul who nailed the questions, even tho Clinton gave lying answers.”

No, she did not. Simply because they were not the answers YOU wanted to hear is not proof that she was lying. McCain is a senile fool and Rand Paul is a Teabagging idiot. Simple as that.

“… she SHOULD have been advised they needed help. Derelict in her duties, he said he would have dismissed her.”

Actually the State Department and Mrs Clinton has been asking for additional funds to beef up embassy and consulate security for four years and Rand Paul and Goofy McCain, along with the rest of the Republicans, have refused and did so again last week. THAT is where the problem lies – with the low-life Republicans that refuse to fund security for our ambassadors and diplomats.

“Kerry has offshore accounts. He alone is worth $200 million. With his wife's $500 million to $1 billion from her first husband, he is considered the wealthiest political figure in DC.”

So Kerry has off-shore accounts? That does not mean I agree with that practice by anyone, least of all a politician who should be investing only in American companies. And I assume from the tone of your post that you do not favor the rich (like Willard the Money Hider) stashing their money off-shore. Why the change?

As to his worth – what does any of that mean, other than your being jealous about his wealth? And actually the wealthiest individual in D.C. is Issa who has so much dirty money floating around him it is difficult to imagine how he can ever wear a clean shirt.

Some of my heroes would be locked up for past mistakes????? And that would be who?

Watched the hearings again Sunday liars who don't blink fascinate me.

Hats off to McCain and Rand Paul who nailed the questions, even tho Clinton gave lying answers. Paul is intelligent, always has the facts. told Clinton it was 9-11, she SHOULD have known England pulled out from attacks, she SHOULD have been advised they needed help. Derelict in her duties, he said he would have dismissed her.

She tried to say she was busy doing other things. She tried to say she never said it was anything other than a terrorist attack in spite of me watching her as the coffins came off the plane. She made a very pushy and deliberate statement blaming it on the movie trailer standing right in front of the families of the deceased.

SHAMEFUL!! ABSOLUTELY SHAMEFUL!!

Then she cried saying Chris was her friend. Phony tears. Then she ran the clock out talking about Rwanda.

The Dems were embarrassing. Spent the time kissing Clinton's backside.

And you have some proof that Kerry has off-shore accounts? Please provide empirical evidence of that information, other than an opinion blog written by a Right wing Hack (you know, like right here on the “opinions” page). Thank you.

As to his family wealth the only thing that I can garner from your comment is … well, jealousy.

Now, let’s consider Kerry’s wealth against Willard the Money Hider (the guy you supported after making some really vile comments about him and his religion) who made his money by destroying American companies, American workers, and sending American jobs to COMMUNIST CHINA where he invested in COMMUNIST CHINESE sweatshops and then – with massive amounts of proof – hid his wealth off-shore to avoid paying taxes (by his own admission).

@Anonymous.....traditionally, it has been a small minority of people who effect change in nations (a classic example was the "Bolsheviks" under Lenin. In the Russian language, Bolshevik means "majority". They should have called themselves the Ishniviks, which means "minority"). While the most radical aspects of this country's Progesssive agenda sometimes move forward by means of popular vote, the driving forces have generally been a comparatively small number of people..... Did I mention Lenin? He once said that to control the opposition , you must BE the opposition, which brings me to what I have heard about a local pro-gun leader. But I still attended the rally on Friday. I just want them (the criminal Government & their criminal gasngster & profiteer allies) and you to know that as they get more brazen by the year in thugging away what more honourable generations before us fought and died to establish, I remember what a prominent pastor said several years ago - "If necessary, will stand in the middle of the road and be run over, so that all that is left of me is my corpse with tire tracks all over it". It is obvious that you do not have that sort of commitment, "Anonymous". But I have watched them rape lives, and the national culture, and gloat & profit, such as through their collusively-produced film industry productions (including several made from events in Kingman). Hide behind your keyboard under any rubric then, and leave it to the small minority, if need be, who may have their quirks and faults. But when push comes to shove - and it has, and will - I prefer their company in some ways far more than yours.

Another error which I'm sure was just a typo, I'm sure you meant Bush so I corrected it for you, "Actually you left out the biggest hypocrite of them all and that is our bought and paid for leader and that is (Bush)" After all he was AWOL when he was ordered to show up for his physical. Oh, also wasn't he the one that started 2 wars on credit cards.

Thank God we have a president who has ended one of those wars and will be ending the other within this term.

"They were NOT called into recess at the time."

That remains to be seen in a higher court. Leaving one poor sap sitting at a desk is not what any sane person would consider as the Senate "being is session." But Republicns are well-known for pulling stunts to try and get thier way - look at the voter suppression in the last election and the upcoming battle over electoral votes.

And just out of curiosity whre was your ire when The Criminla was making resess appointments?

Pl...go to your rallies, gatherings and get you some feel good moments or find you some face to face conversation, seems to me thats why some come here lonely, no one to talk to and needing some human social contact! I think its a good thing this site offers a public service of keeping the looeny tunes at arms length since I am reminded of a case a few years ago when two men got into a argument on line, one challenged the other to give his home address, the one on the east coast drove to the west coast burned down his on line enemys home got sent to prison for arson, guess they both got a bit of what they wished for! You keep on pretending your a warrior of any kind and I will keep on finding amusement in all this stuff!

First of all, W was a fighter pilot. IIRC, no one became a fighter pilot to avoid service in Vietnam. The aircraft he flew, the F-102 saw very limited service in VN and was removed but was used as an interceptor against possible Cuban attacks by various ANG units.

Kerry was very pro war when he served on a destroyer off the coast of VN, enjoying that fine officers' mess. When no one could stand his arrogant behavior anymore, he was transferred to riverine units-swiftboats- he changed his tune quickly about the war. The men he served with told the truth about that pompous *** in 2004.

BillyJeff, the serial sexual harasser in chief, ran against 2 war heroes in 1992 and 1996, the democrats said, oh that doesn't matter now. For another example of BJ's character, google Col. Eugene Holmes.

In 2000, we had two veterans,W and al Jazeera-Gore, he was in VN but he was a senator's son, a military journalist with a bodyguard.
In 2004, the same.W vs. Kerry.

In 2008, we had a real war hero against Obama and Biden who never served, and look what happened, we're turning into Greece.Except Greece is a democracy and we are becoming a monarchy with KingBarack and JesterJoe.

“I watched the first hearings gavel to gavel on C-SPAN where the woman in the highest position (I cannot recall her name right now) stated funding was not at all a problem.”

How, convenient that you cannot remember her name. Please do some research and tell us who this liar might be.

The facts have been stated many times that the Republicans blocked requested additional funding to increase security at our embassies and consulates and they are continuing to do so. Simply stating otherwise will not change the facts – we lost four Americans at Benghazi because the Republicans refused to protect them. .

I suppose you have some actual evidence that proves your statement you would like to share with us? Please post it.

“…on Aug. 8th she was giving one of her eloquent speeches in Cape Cod,Africa”

Where is Cape Cod, Africa?

“But I LOVED Rand Paul's explanation of actions he'd have taken if Pres. and don't care if he served or not!”

Pure grandstanding for the cameras, nothing more.

Congratulations to Mark Levin and his Landmark Legal Foundation and others who just beat obama in court over his illegally declaring Congress in recess so he could make appointments without bothering to have the people involved vetted, etc.

He tramples the Constitution daily but this time he went a little too far and yelled catch me if you can. They did!!

A vote of 3-0, the Court stood up against obama. He has NOT the power to declare the Senate in recess at his whim. The Senate themselves call themselves into recess. They were NOT called into recess at the time.

Back in the Founders day, you libs who constantly talk about there not being assault weapons and tanks....well, there weren't trains and planes and cars either.

In the case of an appointment needing to be made while the Founders were traveling by usually horse and carriage back to their districts, etc, they genuinely were in recess. This is what the recess power was designed for. No POTUS can simply declare they are in recess and start making appointments.

This time he got stopped. They are stunned! They may go to the Supremes. Good, hope they do where Landmark will again be there to fight them.

Hopefully other legal groups will start taking on this usurping of power in all areas king obama seems to love doing.
