Letter: The president who would be king

King George III of England imposed restrictions, proclamations and taxation on the American colonies.

The Proclamation Line of 1763: Colonists were forbidden to advance settlements beyond the peaks of the Allegheny Mountains (in belief many would move away from the established cities, thus reducing the tax base; also to reserve land-speculation and fur-trading opportunities for English rather than colonists).

The Sugar Act (1764): Eliminated trade between the colonies and the West Indies (imposing duties on many items; providing for more effective tax collection).

The Stamp Act: All legal documents, newspapers, printers, publications, permits, licenses, etc. were required to have an official stamp and be taxed. Repealed in 1766, replaced by The Declaratory Act, giving Parliament sweeping new taxing powers over the colonies.

The Mutiny Act (1765): Ordered the colonists to provide housing and supplies for British troops in America.

The Tea Act (1773): Permitted only the East India Tea Co. to retail its product in America without payment of new taxes, thus allowing direct sales to consumers, effectively driving colonist merchants out of business (result: Boston Tea Party).

The Coercive Acts (1774): Aimed only at Massachusetts as a result of the Boston Tea Party, essentially closing the port of Boston.

The Quebec Act (1774): Provoked fear that Catholicism and Anglicanism were about to merge, thereby subjecting Americans to a Roman Catholic/Church of England domination over their Protestantism; also reinforced the land policy of the Proclamation Line of 1763.

The Conciliatory Propositions (1775): Colonies are to tax themselves at Parliament's demand rather than be taxed directly by Parliament. The Conciliatory Propositions reached America after the first shots of revolt were fired at Lexington Common.

So, how does this relate to King Obama I? Departments under his authority in the executive branch, that is, the Departments of Health and Human Services, Energy, Housing and Urban Development, Agriculture and Interior are, without Congressional oversight, feverishly creating new bureaucratic rulings that will force payment of billions of dollars in new job-ending, business-crushing permit fees, license fees, user fees and taxes.

“Under chapter 5 of IRS publication 510 explaining the tax on medical devices there is a 2.3% tax on fishing poles, out board motors and the list goes on, on non-medical devices.”

Here we have another example of someone stating something that is blatantly false in an effort to inflame the intellectually challenged, no-information voter.

Actually it is NOT “Chapter Five” since the IRS does not use “chapters.” What the poster is attempting to reference is Part Two, Section Five of IRS Publication 510 that deals expressively with Manufacturers Taxes and includes not only sports fishing equipment, but bows, quivers, broadheads, arrow shafts, coal, tires, gas guzzlers, and vaccines, to name just a few. And of course that is the section where certain medical devices would be addressed.

Any more questions? Just ask.

“of course your probably not a fisherman or sportsman as it is sooo cruel to animals..”

And once again I will question your use of such a ridiculous statement since you do not know me nor have ever met me. However, I will quote Hemingway for you, “There is no hunting like the hunting of armed men and those who have hunted armed men long enough and liked it, never care for anything else thereafter.”

Now I know you voted for this guy who thinks he is King, but after you look this up and see all the things he wants to tax under the guise of medical devices let us know what you think of this rip off...of course your probably not a fisherman or sportsman as it is sooo cruel to animals but it would be fun to hear your explanation of this corruption from the left.

obama Bob:

Unconstitutiional. The two labor guys he slipped in using "recess appointment" were unconstitutional.

The Senate was not shut down. He simply declared it was like he was a dictator, then did the appointments. UNCONSTITUTIONAL. HE IS EXECUTIVE. HE CANNOT SHUT THE SENATE DOWN WHICH IS LEGISLATIVE.

It's about time someone mentioned the Anti-Federalist Papers, which are available in various redacted forms online. Amazon offers complete versions. Here's a relevant offering from Patrick Henry (which followed his shuddering mention of Holland's Stadtholders, who were sometimes elected, but other times foreign-appointed, given to graft and presiding over Provincial Assemblies and commanding the armies) - "The Constitution is said to have beautiful features, but when I come to examine those features.....they appear horribly frightful. Your President may become King. The Senate is so imperfectly constructed that your dearest rights may be sacrificed by what may be a small minority......It is on a supposition that your American governors shall be honest, that all the good qualities of this Government are founded, but its defective and imperfect construction puts it in their power to perpetrate the worst mischiefs....." These documents are voluminous, and not particularly light reading. But they demonstrate the extent to which an alternative view towards American Government existed in the 1780's when our present Founding Documents were ratified. You can research for yourselves how various historians view these Papers with reference to America's history since then.

“As of today, 89 million unemployed. That does not translate well to your boy doing a good job.”

Actually with the unemployment rate dropping to 7.7% today it does show the president is doing his best against the obstructionist Teabaggers. It’s actually funny how when the percentage drops you suddenly go to numbers (which by the way are inaccurate).

“Neither does Bengazii where Hillary's State Department WAS and IS in a turmoil, no clue what they are even doing.”

All questions regarding Benghazi have been answered and the problem always comes back to the refusal of obstructionist Republicans to provide funds for the upgrades in security requested by the State Department.

“How about Bin Laden's son in law being brought to NYC, charged like a common criminal would be. Planning something that killed nearly 3000 Americans is actually just a TAD bigger than a common killer.”

He’s a criminal, he’s going to be indicted, he will be found guilty. What more do you want?

“… because he is a boy child who promised to close Gitmo, one more promise not done …”

Once again Obama lived up to his word. On 27 January 2009 he signed an executive order calling for the closing of Gitmo. However, the obstructionist Republicans refused to provide funds for the closure or for movement to facilities in the U.S.

”Add that to the hundreds of thousands of documents taken from bin Laden's compound …”

“You keep posting this 100 thousand documents nonsense and when aske refuse to provide proof. Why?

“Romney would have put UBL's son in law in Gitmo, had him interrogated to the max.”

Willard the Money Hider lost and we have no idea what that fool would have done – other than attempt to turn our nation into a Mormon controlled theocracy.

Rand Paul did nothing? He got O and his law breaking buddy at the DOJ to say they would not drone kill Americans on American soil.

That is NOTHING to you? He faced obama down and won.

Hanoi Jane committed tyranny. If it happened again, you would be FOR obama having her killed by a drone in Hanoi then I assume?

From what I am reading it appears that nearly all of you are missing the point. "King Obama " does not make the laws, Our "elected" administration does. They vote on laws drafted by special interest lobbyists (nearly 90% are drafted by lobbyists). Now the question is...are they voting on proposed laws the way that "we the people" want them to or are they voting the way special interest lobbyists want them to? Are we allowed to vote on proposed laws? Who shall we really blame? Are we going to continue to let big business, the United Nations and foreign interests decide our lives and laws for us?

So some of the fact checked lies from obama about sequestration.

70,000 Head Start kids kicked out (told us by HHS abortion queen Kathleen Sebelius). DIDN'T HAPPEN.

Federal Prosecutors will have to let criminals go. DIDN'T HAPPEN -

Teachers, as I speak, (he being head of Dept of Education), are getting pink slips. NO, NONE DID.

Government janitors will be let go immediately. NONE WERE.

Obama himself said unemployment will go up more. In fact, this week it went down, for different reasons, more not looking, but nevertheless, it did not go up because people laid off rushed to sign up for unemployment.

So to compensate for that, he NOW has said, well, it will probably go back up. How encouraging. He is THE AMATEUR. Obviously, he is starting to panic that the sky did not fall yet.

So much so, he picked a PUBLIC RESTAURANT to drag the old Republican bulls out to eat with...dragging 20 unused limos behind him so they would not be missed.

But THEY WERE. Because Rand Paul was in the middle of his 13 hour philibuster and everyone was tuned into that - not on the obama public restaurant dinner table. Damn! Foiled again!!

I love listening to Rush Limbaugh. Every day some former low information voter calls in to say they accidentally found him on the car radio or whatever and have finally seen the error of their ways and are now voting for Conservatives.

Oh Ya:

You talk of "idiotic" behavior and you're an obama devotee. That IS hilarious!!

Let's see. Include in idiotic your people were going to give a high award today to Ms Ibrahim of Egypt who we now know tweeted for at least the last year her hatred for Americans and Jews. Tee hee, she said - 9-11 coming, hope to always see Americans burning. And this is who the State Dept and obama were giving an award to? So inept, they say they missed her tweets. Dear God, help us all.

As of today, 89 million unemployed. That does not translate well to your boy doing a good job.

Neither does Bengazii where Hillary's State Department WAS and IS in a turmoil, no clue what they are even doing.

How about Bin Laden's son in law being brought to NYC, charged like a common criminal would be. Planning something that killed nearly 3000 Americans is actually just a TAD bigger than a common killer.

Your IDIOTIC leader obama refuses to send anyone to Gitmo because he is a boy child who promised to close Gitmo, one more promise not done - now won't send anyone there.

The guy will lawyer up, we'll have no interrogation rights, NYC traffic will be clogged. This IS idiocy.

Add that to the hundreds of thousands of documents taken from bin Laden's compound and under your idiotic POTUS's transparency he promised, they have released 17 papers. What? Only 17. That can't be right. IT IS RIGHT.

Romney would have put UBL's son in law in Gitmo, had him interrogated to the max.

Hillary and obama alone are car wrecks. Together they were a pileup on top of the once greatest country on earth.

And yet you have not denounced Shuruff Sheehan and his “feelings” about which laws he will enforce.

So now you have a "New" hero since your boy Romney embarrassed the GOP. Unfortunately, of all the candidates that are trying to "boost" themselves to be worthy of a Presidential run, are showing the same idiotic behavior that Romney projected. So far "NONE" of them have been able to get a rating high enough to even come close to Hillary's 50% of popularity. You say the King's castle is crumbling, watch what happens in 2014 and 2016. The Dem's have absolutely nothing to worry about as the GOP can't produce a frontrunner.

Your problem is that you are unable to distinguish opinion from fact.

Several of Obama's executive orders are unconstitutional because he ordered the alteration of laws that were duly passed by congress and signed by the sitting president.

There is no opinion involved here. It is the facts.

The US is a nation of laws, not men. That means that the restrictions that we citizens live under are placed there by the constitutional passage of legislation by our elected representatives. That is how a representative republic works.

If you think that the meaning of laws are subject to the opinion of who ever is living in the White House, we become a nation of people who experience freedom and favor at the whim and grace of the president. The name for that type of nation would be a dictatorship.

“Hats off to Rand Paul who did an old fashioned filibuster for 13 hours against Death by Drones.”

Let’s see the guy said he was going to speak for as long as it took and being a total wimp gave up after thirteen hours. What we saw was pointless grandstanding that proved nothing, except that Rand Paul is a buffoon – almost as goofy as his dad.

“He is one step further in a possible run for POTUS in 2016.”

LOL – is there NO ONE from the Right Wing Brigade that you will not back? Pathetic. Next you’ll be telling why Jeb Bush would make a “wonderful POTUS.”

“…. goes on Beck sometimes and is really, really smart.”

Hey, going on beck is not an indication of any degree of intelligence, in fact it is just the opposite and will be one the things that will kill any chance of his running in 2016.

Hats off to Rand Paul who did an old fashioned filibuster for 13 hours against Death by Drones.

Unlike others, he stayed on point, knew exactly what he was talking about and did not stand and read the phone book.

He is one step further in a possible run for POTUS in 2016. This was brilliant because first, he was sincere. Dept of Justice head Holder cannot give a definitive NO we will never kill Americans on American soil with drones but instead says, if the circumstances were right.... well maybe.

Whether for or against it, to have Americans on American soil killed by drones leaves a very bad taste in everyone's mouth including Code Pink and the ACLU and undoubtedly every Ron Paul lover. All of these could be new votes if he runs.

In any event, he is an exceptional man, gutsy, won't back down....obviously has a set that other Republicans do not. And he is SMART and knows what he is talking about.

I really like this man - goes on Beck sometimes and is really, really smart.

I made my argument and supported my stance, if you choose to ignore it, that is your problem, not mine. You are one of the many who single out Obama for doing the exact actions other Presidents have done in the past. That much is made obvious when you immediately got defensive about Bush when I never mentioned him at all. That, OKR, is a guilt conscience showing through

First, let me say that if there were laws that violated the constitution being passed, I would be right there with you trying to change the policy.

That being said, your opinions are just that - until you clone yourself and all of you are confirmed as a majority of the Supreme Court, I will trust our current justices to interpret what's constitutional and what's not. That's their job.

Also, regulations are laws that limit, or "regulate" something like polution or tax rates or federal highway spending caps. They are contained, unless otherwise stated, in the United States Code. Free to look up at any public library.

That's the country I live in, one where the law is alive and dynamic, able to adapt as the people do as well.

When you feel down and out under King obama, remember, you can always go to a search engine and relisten to Dr Benjamin Carson's wonderful speech to the National Prayer Breakfast and know there is a man out there who might run, could run, could win as POTUS next time around.

And he is wonderful! I love this God fearing Christian man who in the smallest of voices, says the largest of truths and is afraid of noone.

Did you know the White House repeatedly asked to see copies of his speech prior to giving it? He said no because he speaks off the top of his head, doesn't write speeches down and admits he wasn't even sure what he was going to say the morning of the speech.

And then the White House told him to not say anything that would offend the president. So much for freedom of speech.

Because Dr Carson leads by the example of Jesus including on taxes, it all would be an offense to obama, who rather than fair, wants the wealthy to carry the rest of the country.

How you lemmings continue to stomach obama is beyond my comprehension - country divider, unfair, liar, uses everyone - then throws them under the bus. Yuk, the most unamerican president in our history.

What is ridiculous is that you are unaware of the difference between laws, (passed by congress), regulations that have the same impact on the citizens as a law, (created by unelected political appointees of the president), and unconstitutional executive orders, (unconstitutional because they change already existing laws).

The United States was established as a nation of laws, not men. This means that the only restraint upon the people should be the laws passed by our elected officials. We are rapidly changing to a nation where the restraints placed upon the people are at the whim of a tyrannical president.

You may be happy living in a country run this way, (which in my opinion is ridiculous), but many people are not.
