Kingman Letters:U.S. bloodier than Arab Spring

We all think of the 2011 Arab Spring as a terrible world of violence that took so many lives and destroyed so many countries, yet we kill twice as many people every year here in the United States with guns as were killed in the 10 Arab countries - excepting the genocide in Libya and civil war in Syria - that overthrew their governments or had large protests that forced major government changes. There were around 5,000 total deaths attributed to the upheaval in the region, while gun violence here at home killed more than 11,000 each year of the unrest in northern Africa.

There are 200 million people in these countries that have effected major change in their governments through civil unrest, while we have a little over 300 million people here in our peaceful country and yet our gun violence takes twice as many lives per year as all of the Arab Spring violence took.

Don't we really need to change the way we think and act toward each other in this country? "Might makes right" has never been a sustainable state philosophy through history and is destructive of our society.

@Meeting Violence With Violence Leads to More Violence

If you ever attacked violently be sure to try to persuade them to cease attacking you with your pacifist philosophy.

Thank you, Danny. For those advocating violence as an answer - how does a child react to violence? Well they first cower. When violence continues, they run to escape. When violence continues, they strike out with violence. The same is true for our adult population.

"No truth shown in the above. The figures indicate a legal medical procedure and has nothing whatsoever to do with “slaughtering babies.”"

Is that because like most pro-murder abortion supporters you believe that they are not humans until they are outside the womb, comrade?

It jjust needs a yes or no answer AN

“But then when someone presents you with the facts you can't accept them and dismiss them out of hand.”

Wrong, when presented with actual facts I will always accept and acknowledge them, just I did with your CDC information that had absolutely noting to do with the “slaughter of babies.”

“Typical of Obamism, refuse to acknowledge the truth when it doesn't fit your world view.”

The truth is vital to my world view and is why I challenge nonsense about birth certificates and the “slaughter of babies.”

“So are you suggesting that the CDC is lying to us now? and that there were not 784,507 abortions reported to them in 2009? Interesting.”

I made no such suggestion. What I pointed out was that the CDC reported – as you stated – on the number of abortions performed (a legal medical procedure) and yet said nothing about the “slaughter of babies” an illegal practice. And I have been unable to find any news stories anywhere on line that mentions the “slaughter of babies.”

You truly are a piece of work AN, you constantly refuse everyone's arguments saying, "Where's the facts?". But then when someone presents you with the facts you can't accept them and dismiss them out of hand. Typical of Obamism, refuse to acknowledge the truth when it doesn't fit your world view. So are you suggesting that the CDC is lying to us now? and that there were not 784,507 abortions reported to them in 2009? Interesting.

No truth shown in the above. The figures indicate a legal medical procedure and has nothing whatsoever to do with “slaughtering babies.” And as always, don’t lie abortions, don’t have one. In all other cases mind your own business.

And I will ask – again because no one seems to be capable of providing an answer. Exactly what punishment would you suggest for a woman who has an abortion? No matter what a bunch of busybodies do, abortions will always take place. So tell us, what punishment would you like to see for a woman who has an abortion?

@ vock canyon...
CA population...about 38M....AZ population about 6.5M. So CA is about 6.8 times more populous than AZ.

Using your theory...CA should have had about 1510 gun deaths...but somehow they didn't.

Sorry, that is just not a valid argument. I wouldn't use it when trying to defend gun rights...not that they should really need defending anyway.

No Facts?

Don't wait for Bill Maher or John Stewart or some other comedy show to give you the news and your point of view.

Think outside the box, that TV box.

Look up the facts or have your opinion fed to you or get it off a bumper sticker...but here's a free one anyway.

It's CNN so that should be liberal media enough for you.

But you could wait for Maher to give you your truth.

Boy am I confused. 2011 Cali 1220 gun deaths, Arizona 222. no carry in cali and well, you know the arizona laws.

So by trusting the common man we saved 1000 lives.

95000 people were killed by the wars in syria and libya were private gun ownership was illegal.

Now can you explain what the heck you are comparing???????

Just because I have the right and a permit to carry doesn't mean that I do!

Due to the length of my prior post I left out a few FACTS.

February 2013 United Nation estimates 70,000 killings in Syria, alone, so far during this lightly named “Arab Spring.”

The liberal likes to fabricate facts and call them truths. Here’s a little test.

1. Why did the participants of the Arab Spring try to overthrow their government?
a. They wanted free phones.
b. They wanted to be Occupy Wall Streeters.
c. Their government was run by ruthless dictators.

2. What is the best way to overthrow ruthless dictators?
a. Reason with them.
b. Tell the government you have guns, how many, what you have and where you live.
c. Keep yourself and your guns unregistered and unlimited.

3. What country has the strictest gun laws?
a. U.S.A.
b. Netherlands.
c. China, N. Korea, Russia and all the Arab States.

The answer is “C” on all the questions.

If you answered anything other than that, the good news is you can still keep your liberal card, judge people, call them racist and know that all that all the answers are easy and you got em.

The bad news is due to your lack of common sense, sound judgment, knowledge of history, world events, knowledge of natural human nature and behavior you are no longer fit to handle your own affairs, handle money, drive a car, own a gun or raise children. (Maybe that whole abortion thing is working itself out.)

Most of all, you and your ilk should never be telling other people what to eat, think, drink, say, pay for, own and especially how to defend themselves or their freedoms.

@Jimi

AK-47s are so cheap and prevalent that to assume that they'll just "go away" after a stable government starts up is not likely.

As someone that's had an AK pointed at them more than a few times, I can assure you that they are the cheapest, most prolific gun, legal and otherwise, in the world.

Here's a South African report on how much an AK costs on the black market- about $120 there.

In DRC, a country in a situation very much like Libya, they run about $50.

http://soundmoneysa.co.za/2012/10/what-can-the-ak-47-teach-us-about-gun-control-in-south-africa/

Getting an AK is less difficult than getting malaria medication in some places.

I do find the comments by the far right wing looney tunes regarding socialism funny, one day they call the democrats socialists, the next marxists, then communists one has to find humor in this socialism and communism/marxism are two different ideologies, Germans were socialists turned facists who hated and despised communists/marxists and America has had socialism in our society since FDR created social security, etc., etc., down the road and Herbert Hoover famously said when American economy was collapsing let the free market fix it, he is only remembered for two things today, causing the great depression, fiddling like Nero as Rome burned and them shanty towns of homeless, unemployed who at one point reached 33% of America which they coined a nick name for called Hoovervilles! Bush Jr will be remembered for 2000-2008 collapse and not much else!

Can we look forward to you, someday, posting something of substance? Or will you just continue worrying about other peoples underwear and art collections?

Ok, you took a letter espousing the evils of guns(which I don't agree with), and turned it into a rant about your mystical "enititled". If that is not twisting a person's words, I do not know what is.

Have you researched the change in the rate of gun violence and crimes involving guns in countries that have banned guns. Check out England. When the law abiding are no longer armed, the criminals feel free to commit armed robberies, rapes, and murders.

What about comparing gun violence and gun related crimes between US states and cities where there are strict gun laws in some states and cities and not in others. Look at Chicago for example. IL has strict gun laws and parts of Chicago are a war zone.

Oh, and by the way, since you took the trouble to except the genocide Libya from your numerical comparison, why do you think the government in Libya felt free to exercise that genocide?

Read about the sacrifices to Moloch in the Bible...! Gun control has nothing to do with anything, other than this communist govt wants to control everything you do, especially any money you have!

The major reasons for gun violence in this country involve drug sales and the gangs that rule certain areas of America's major cities.
To them, stolen guns, disposable cell phones, digital scales and baggies are all costs of doing business.
You also have neighborhoods that will not cooperate with police and have a general acceptance of drug use along with a weird culture of "disrespect". You also have people committing criimes to pay for their next fix.
Just look at some of the vomit produced by the HollywoodHalfwits that glorifies drug use as the norm- and in many parts of the country they're right.

I can assure you that drug use is not tolerated in Muslim countries, as it is against the Qu'ran, executions are mandated, even to foreigners as the penalty for drug sales.
Though, opium poppies are grown in Turkey,Afghanistan, Lebanon- and Morocco is the leading producer of hashish, selling it within those countries can be fatal.
You might want to a little closer at what's going on in Libya and Syria though before you start comparing totals of victims of violence.

Cut gun violence in the cities? Legalize drugs(marijuana) or start executions of drug dealers. The war on drugs as it is now, is a failure.

This is simplified so obama supporters can understand it but I only have 300 words.

I don't know if this is true, but supposedly you can boil a frog to death by heating the water gradually. The frog gets used to the temperature change gradually and doesn't jump out. It seems kind of like that with gun violence in the U.S. There are over 30,000 gun-related deaths in the U.S. each year, but we've gotten used to them gradually so we don't feel the need to do anything about it.

Arab Spring casualty estimates by the countries involved and watch dog groups are estimated at 3500.

There were about 900 people killed from Jan 25 to Feb 11.

That is almost 1000 in less than a month. Estimates of 30 Coptic Christians killed this month alone.

With the fewest gun laws and restrictions in all the Arab countries, Syria has strict gun laws registering every piece of ammo and gun and owner.

Egypt PROHIBITS long guns by civilians. Every pistol is registered along with the owner and you must show GOOD REASON to own a firearm (P.S. In Egypt there is no GOOD reason unless you belong to Al Qaeda or the MB.)

In Libya, NO CIVILIANS may lawfully acquire, possess or transfer ANY firearm or ammunition.

Illegal firearms in those countries are provided by the Al Qaeda and Muslim Brotherhood at about 3500 USD for an AK-47 or SKS.

So to overthrow brutal tyrants, these civilians were charged by the future, more brutal tyrants, to do their dirty work.

This black market gun supply will dry up when the MB and Al Qaeda take over.
(They don’t want to be overthrown later by another group pulling the same scam.)

So the Arab people have provided a free fighting force and financed the future tyrants by paying top dollar for the weapons and ammo they used to overthrow the governments and do Al Qaeda’s bidding.

Thanks to fairy tales of liberty and public safety that the extremists fed to an Arab populace they again have sold their own liberty and have paid with their scarce money and ultimately, their lives.

Strict gun laws and registration only leads to dictatorships.

Twist it any way that suits your liberal rainbow dusted pillow but history and reality tells us the truth.
