Kingman letters: A nutty gun decision

To the supervisors:

Are you people nuts? Or don't you have any common sense at all? Didn't you learn anything from Columbine, Connecticut, and the other shootings around the country? If you let people walk into the County Administration Building, you may be the ones shot by someone who is mad at you, or maybe someone who goes to pay their taxes and is mad because they think the taxes are too high!

We just took a step backward to the old Wild West. I seriously think you should rethink your vote before some innocent people die. Don't let your lack of common sense get innocent people killed. Please!

A very concerned citizen and friend ...

Janice Palmer

Original Kingman Resident,
Get your facts straight, there was an armed guard at Columbine. A lot of good it did.

Jimi L. I guess all those "nut jobs that go to shooting innocents donít do it where people are known to be armed" shows that "nut jobs" have a tremendous capacity to analyze their crazy acts.

OKR, there was an armed person in Phoenix a few weeks back when boom boom happened. There was at least one gun (besides Loughner) at the Tucson shooting. And what about all those guns that the police had in the latest LA shootings. So no you're argument is shot full of holes.

The only difference in the rednecks that carry guns in Kingman from the rednecks in the Southeast is they make moonshine and here they cook meth.

Oh Janice.... they'll just tell you that if everyone has a gun, then it prevents someone with a mental illness and incapable of rational thought from having rational decision-making about where to go nuts shooting a bunch of people.

You should start a pool to see how long it takes for an accidental discharge to change the policy again.

How do you just arbitraily remove the 'BEAR' from 'Keep And Bear Arms' ?. It was never a problem when guns were allowed and it won't be a problem after april 1 when guns are allowed AGAIN.

@Palmer

"Didn't you learn anything from Columbine, Connecticut, and the other shootings around the country?"

Yeah, we learned that nearly all mass shootings always happen in "Gun Free Zones". I am surprised you didn't know that. Oh wait, as a leftist, I'm sure you know it, but just think your philosophical position will always be more important than peoples lives.

Keep it up, Bub, you're a laugh riot.

@ Original Kingman Resident Columbine High had in it's employ, armed security. He was a sheriffs deputy by the name of Neil Gardner.

These two individuals at Columbine on that day in 1999 had no fear of armed personnel. They were on a very well planned mission to kill as many as they could, Noting and no one was going to deter them.
In both instances, Columbine and sunnybrook these individuals came prepared to die and well armed.

To az mac:

You wrote, "The security was put there to restrict your rights and enforce unconstitutional codes and rules the ole BOS made." That is not true. I read somewhere that the ban on bringing guns into the County building was put in place because of a death threat to one of its employees. And everyone's "common sense" logic about all those citizens coming in to pay their tax bills etc. should be armed in case one of them goes nuts and starts shooting is all fine and dandy. But what if there is only one customer in that building and he turns out to be the shooter. There wouldn't be any other armed customers in there to stop him/her from shooting up the place. So, if the customers can be armed, the employees should be armed, as well, since in the above situation, they would be the only ones available to stop the shooter. If you insist on allowing customers to carry their guns into the County building, then you must allow the employees to carry, as well.

As I asked in another post, what's next? Being allowed to carry guns into KRMC? Church? Funerals? Weddings? We must draw the line somewhere.

This is NOT "the Wild West." We are more than a hundred years past that part of our history. I should hope that we have evolved past the age of shoot-em-up cowboys and notorious gunslingers. Although, the way some of you tallk about your guns, I'm not sure we have evolved at all, or have become a more refined and dignified population.

I have to wonder where are all these armed citizens hiding when these mass shootings are taking place?

I haven't heard of one single event to date that was stopped because an armed citizen intervened.

Rep. Gabrielle Giffords was speaking in the parking lot of a Safeway store in Tucson, AZ. Certainly a place not considered to be a "gun free zone" by any measure.

So much for the armed citizenry affecting these shooters choice to kill.

Uh, there were armed people at Columbine. And at Tucson. They did not save anyone. In fact, they almost killed innocent people. Get your facts straight conservatives. And gun stores/pawn shops with guns are among the most frequently robbed places. Again, get your facts straight. Kingman has more crime per capita than Chicago or NYC.

Obviously you are not American by using the term "you people" it is evident. If you were, you would be familiar with the intent of our founding fathers:
No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms. - Thomas Jefferson
The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government. - Thomas Jefferson

And tryanny from fake Americans like you. Go back to your own country and quit trying to destroy our way of life by making us targets. I, for one, will not be.

Janice,

Since your arrival to our sleepy little hick town. I've seen you post some of the wildest most convoluted rants I've ever read.

Without going into details I can assure you. I've been around, having lived from coast to coast in many cities big and small. In my travels I havent encountered many like yourself.

Your a person that wants to " stir the pot" and become a big political player oneday. Only thing is. You shoot yourself in the foot everytime you post.

Oh and that little disclosure thing pretty must ends your plolitical career.

Nodays I see your name and all I think is. Why is this person still talking? Here you have burned more bridges on your way to losing your next election.

Mrs. Palmer,

Perhaps you should tone it down a little bit. The three Supervisor's who voted to rescind the ban carried through on their campaign promise to do so, which is a miracle all by itself. Additionally, what part of the 2nd Amendment's "shall not be infringed" don't you understand? If you want to restrict the constitutional rights of your fellow Americans I suggest you move to California or New York where the sheeple put up with such things. Here in Arizona the people want to exercise their 2nd Amendment rights and that is the way it should be.

The more people who are armed the safer it will be. The mass shootings only take place at gun free zones. Guess people entered the county building for years without any trouble.
The security was put there to restrict your rights and enforce unconstitutional codes and rules the ole BOS made.

Well itís a good thing youíll have your own gun when you walk into the County Administration office just in case one of those Old West nutty gun owners goes to shooting people because his taxes are too high.

Maybe we should lower taxes to be fair and level the playing field.

On the serious side, these nut jobs that go to shooting innocents donít do it where people are known to be armed. They go where people are prohibited to carry guns.

Reason being they are cowards that want to kill as many folks as possible. They donít want to be stopped but more important, THEY DONíT WANT TO GET SHOT.

To be fair there have been a couple of shootings where there was a uniformed and armed officer. And over the years a couple of them have been killed. Of course the shooter knew to shoot them first so they could kill the unarmed. It just happens that all these shooters were killed by the officers before they expired, or they were killed by plain clothes officers carrying concealed.

When you have a situation where someone or everyone could be carrying concealed, a shooter wonít know who to shoot first or if the lady he turned his back to is packing. The last thing they want is to be shot down like a fool and the media doesnít talk about them but instead everyone talks about the hero that shot them down.

But, without exception, even one exception, more people have been killed by a shooter where NO ONE WAS ARMED. Its facts, not frantic conjecture.

Janice, you got your wires crossed. If somebody walked into the County Administration Building intent on doing harm to somebody...especially with all of the well armed people who are there...They wouldn't have a chance.
I've seen it before. Somebody comes into a Government building, pulls a gun and starts shouting....only to find 11 people have the drop on him...usually with bigger guns.

Once again i will ask, and im sure be ignored by the people who speak from both sides of their mouths,, but since you speak of common sense... How many police stations, gun shows and gun stores do you see getting shot up?? In fact, how many MASS shootings have you EVER seen in a place like this? None probably...why is that?? Because you dont pull a gun on a room full of people carrying guns do you?? Common sense - avoiding the liberal brain for the last hundred years
