Letter: Let's get impeachment started

I am imploring the people of Kingman, if they agree, to contact our Rep. (Paul Gosar) by phone, email and letter to start impeachment hearings in the House now.

This is not a partisan matter; this is not a revenge plot. This is what we need to do for our children, if we believe in America. The time is ripe and despite bickering on point, I firmly believe President Obama violated his Oath of Office - false swearing coupled with sundry conspiracies would suffice. I do not relish the immediate outcome (Biden), but if we unite and actually impeach, we have won a major victory, which will not be ignored.

We are the people; we must act, but in a manner consistent with our laws. Rep. Gosar is sympathetic and must begin the journey to show the world we are still a free country of voters who support due process of law and enforce it. Please support me peacefully.

If not now, when?

Mary Ellen Jazwin

Just a funny thought how it's going to be for these crazy republicans when Hillary wins for eight more years. Really going to suck for ya.

@There is far right and then there's Mohave County

Spoken like a true to the core, left wing radical.
I see that you have allowed the radical left media cloud your commonsense thinking. The actions that the Repubs have taken, since Obama and his gang of socialist radicals came to power, is welcomed by us traditional Americans! Thank you Repubs. Keep up the good work!

The works for impeachment most likely will not work, however a second American revolution will work to protect our constitution.

vock canyon, Boy, am I glad you brought up this information. Obama happens to be the first President in history to given foreign aid or military aid to any country in the world. Isn't it terrible that no other President ever gave money or guns to a country that hates our guts.

The US has been giving aid to Pakistan since 1948. That's 65 years. No doubt that's Obama's fault.

$1 Billion a Year in Military Aid to Egypt for 40 Years. Again Obama's fault.

Thank you for your level headed post. We need more people like you around here.

@Vock Canyon....the $1.3 billion was, of course, intended to buy influence. But now that the Saudis and Gulf Emirates just forked over $15 billion to Egypt (read: the Egyptian military junta) earlier this week, I wouldn't count on the Muslim Brotherhood returning to power anytime soon. Heck, Kerry couldn't even buy Palestinian peace terms for $4 billion last month. I guess Ben Bernanke is just going to have to print up some prettier Monopoly money in the future.

Article comment by: Yes, Voting the Right Way is Needed

David, do you really believe things would be different if the Reps controlled both houses. The Republican leadership called a meeting (our own Kyl) was there at a local DC restaurant the night Obama was sworn in. They agreed that the Reps would do everything against anything Obama wanted. (One might say they created treason - especially when they cited Al-Qaeda). They have been very effective in doing nothing but obstructing progress in the House where laws are introduced. Instead of job bills they have introduced anti-abortion (good o' Franks) and laws to repeal Obamacare. The answer is not to vote for Reps in the senate but to vote out all the obstructionist (both parties but mostly Republican).

Yea, Gosar is a looser that should be replaced yet the proper way to do so is through the ballot box.

For those not agreeing with how this area is represented there really is only one way to change it get active, get involved, volunteer for whatever opposition has the best chance to replace what we have. Like or not, agree with it or not, the best chance to replace what we have is to vote for a Democrat. The local Dems have a golden opportunity to show that they can more effectively represent this area. It is our responsibility to find strong Democratic candidates that give the disillusioned Republicans and the independents reason to vote against the status quo Republican candidates that dominate this area.

Sorry, I had to come to terms with how repetitive and silly this kind of stuff is. I know you think this is coming from some "darn liberal!" because I don't agree, but it's not. Read on if you dare.

First, I'll give you a minute to google "How impeachment works." Take your time.......

BTW, what are the actual charges here? What laws were broken and when, what evidence can Rep. Gosar present to the Senate to make the case that laws were broken?

By now you realize that David G is correct, you can impeach all you want, but the trial will fail miserably in the Senate.

The result: failure and embarrassment for the Republicans that brought this up.

It's also a surefire way to solidly wedge the two parties farther and farther apart. So even more do-nothingness when there's bad blood on paper.

Think about this long term for you and Gosar. For him this means that this is a sure-fire way to lose votes he needs, and take your real needs down in priority. It also means any bill he proposes will get shot down in the Senate quickly and maybe never signed by POTUS.

For you this means that your Rep. is now hobbled, AND that by suggesting such a poor idea, that you now are the bad suggestion lady.

And by the way, if you've made it this far, suggesting that Republicans abuse their position as elected officials to impeach any president that is of an opposing party is, to me, childish and arrogant. That's not American, that's what a fascist would do.

@ Joe Schmo

Benghazi is a scandal. The White House cooked up a lie that blamed an obscure YouTube video for a "spontaneous demonstration" at the embassy. It wouldn't look good for a planned attack on a US embassy and murder of an ambassador to take place 2 months before the election.

There are many questions that need to be answered surrounding the entire situation, however, the administration is not providing key people and documents to Congress for the investigation.

As far as the IRS, someone stated that leftist groups were targeted, but no specific details were given, such as who the groups were and whether or not these groups were approved or denied or the time frames involved, so these reports are highly questionable. It seems that these reports are vague enough to make Obama followers feel comfortable in believing that the IRS scandal doesn't actually exist. The rest of us are not fooled.

The conservative groups were asked to provide information that the government has no business asking for. This is documented, in writing on IRS letterhead. No such proof exists for the phantom targeted leftist groups.

The NSA spying was started under Bush's Patriot Act, but like many of Bush's mildly progressive programs, was greatly expanded by Obama. No matter who is doing it, it is wrong, and it violated our 4 th amendment rights. Obama didn't need to expand it. If he is as wonderful as you state, he should have ended it.

Clinton was impeached and acquitted in the senate and if you don’t agree with me then go back and retake a Civics class in high school.

@ David Gaither
Yeah I really want to support a party that could careless about women and wants to take women’s pay and rights back to the 1950s and who keeps putting their foot in their mouth when they talk about rape. Let’s not forget about supporting a party that if they had their way would round up every Latino and depart them back to Mexico. A party who believes in slashing education funding but has no problems increasing military spending. A party that believes in banning all abortions but doesn’t want to fund foster care, CPS or welfare programs. Instead what’s going to happen is the GOP is going to continue to shoot themselves in the foot and the Dems are going to retake the house in 14 and get blown out of the water in 16. The only viable presidential candidate that could attract independents is Chris Christie but the GOP won’t nominate him because he actually had nice things to say about Obama.
The GOP has shown their true colors since Obama took office, which is a party of white racists.

@Need Tea Party Party
Good luck with that, the rest of America has woken up and realized just much of a cook shack the Tea Party is all you have to do is look at Sarah Palin and Michelle Bacuhman

Be real would you. The Republicans have done so little for that last 8-9 years that there is no hope of a win in 2014. They can't expect a win when they spend their time sitting on their thumbs and pointing at everyone else with the other hand and attacking people.

Deja Vu Clinton too was attempted to be impeached by the radical hypocrites on the far right wing, they had congress issue a impeachment articles but senate denied them, we have a repeat today, no chance of this petition ever coming to be anything but a feel good petition for the skin tone afflicted in our society, or them birther conspiracy theory believers who just cannot believe that non-white fellow in white house is a legally born US citizen!

Your GOP is being controlled by extremists and the reps from the Kingman area... well they are really too far to the right for most to listen to.
Our Congress is a JOKE ! Lets impeach all the overpaid Millionaires in Congress who have run this country into the ground! The GOP thinks its ok to double interest rates for students? Ok lets let banks run the show and elect more GOP!

@a resident

"I think we should get rid of Goser, AND Trent Franks. I`ll sign that petition." The rest of your letter is complete nonsense."

Please lead the charge of leftists and start that petition. The effort would be as good for a laugh as the recent leftist attempt to oust Sheriff Joe Arpio in Maricopa County turned out to be. I missed it, did they ever say how many verifiable signatures they collected?

But recall petitions sometimes do bring results. As those two anti-gun politicians in CO are discovering.

we are giving 1.3 billion dollars to egypt each year in military support. why?

We are giving them 20 f-16 fighter planes that are only good for the mass killing of people. why? We are going in debt to give away weapons of mass destruction? and yet, Obama wants our handguns that we pay for ourselves????

What kind of common sense does this make? what is wrong with this guy?

Let's see, it's ok if Obama gives away to foreign coutries weapons that will kill 6000 people in a one minute, but he doesn't trust us with clips bigger than10 rounds. The m-61 Vulcan mounted on the f-16, it's rate of fire is typically 6,000 rounds per minute or 100 rounds per second.

To make matters worse, they just chucked out their president and the military is in control. I can't believe how stupid of a move this is.

Is there Impeachment for stupidity?

@ Need Tea Party Party

I couldn't agree with you more!

I honestly believe that one of the best things that could happen in this country is for all of those folks who "belong" to or relate with the Tea Party must form their own party officially...something akin to what Sarah Palin suggested a week or so ago...and put together their manifesto and proclaim it loudly for all Americans to hear.

Then the remnants of the Republican Party will probably die on the vine due to the mass exodus of people embracing the Tea Party. As for the Democrat Party, well who knows what may happen with them, the shock of it all could have repercussions for years. This could be the beginning of the second American Revolution!

Please, please, please create the Tea Party Party ASAP...America needs to understand what you have to offer this great nation and how you will accomplish your goals...the sooner that this happens, the sooner that the people of this great country will come to their senses and move this country forward!

Mary Ellen:

What does this even mean: “false swearing coupled with sundry conspiracies would suffice.”

Please tell which on what specific grounds you would have our congressman begin impeachment proceedings. What scandal du jour cooked up by the right would you use this week? Let’s see…

Benghazi was a tragedy, not a scandal. It might make for great TV on Faux, but that’s about as far as it goes.

The IRS scandal fell apart when it was revealed that left wing political groups were targeted for scrutiny as well as those on the right—as they should have been. Poor Congressman Issa has a sad.

The NSA eavesdropping issue is more of problem for the left than the right. It’s hard to see how the right turns this so-called scandal in their favor, let alone make it somehow the basis for impeachment.

I’m sure I’m forgetting something, but I do my best to avoid the right wing media bubble at all times.

You got nothing as far as I can see. But thanks for playing.

I agree 100%. But it will never get the support of the Demoncratic controlled Senate. This is why it is so important for the voters support Republican candidates in the coming 2014 elections. All parties, (including Democrats who are concerned about this president's policies), must, this one time, at least, come together as one, and give the Republicans the power they need to fix the problem, we call Obama!

Uhh, Gosar is just another clown with his own agenda – money. Nothing more or less.

“If not now, when?”

Never, because your entire argument is predicated on nonsense. What is it with you righties and your impeachment trash? Didn’t you learn anything when you tried that with Clinton?
