Letter: What are you doing about injustice?

It is hard to support America and condemn some actions by the people and the politicians. We are supposed to be the land of the free. Yet there is so much one cannot do or say without being shunned by family, friends and the country as a whole.

Maybe it has always been this way the world over, and not just in America. Standing for what is right is not easy. Rev. Wright has the right to say, "God Damn America." The preacher in Florida had the right to burn the Koran.

I did not agree with them, yet I think they had the right to do so.

Burning the flag and dishonoring the dead being laid to rest are both despicable acts, and yet I must concede they have the right. This is not France where, by any of the above-mentioned acts, you would land in jail and be fined. In other countries you would be dead.

For America to truly work, the Constitution must apply to all. I know the justice system is not fair, and the more money you have the better the chances you will win in court.

Yes, there are many things wrong with America, and I gripe about it, and write about it, and vote to change it.

I have looked far and wide, and I have not found a better political justice system for me. So for now, you are stuck with me expressing my First Amendment rights, and I ask, "What about you? What are you doing about the injustices you see?

Jack Shepherd

"After reading many of his 900+ executive orders, I am still reeling from them."

I imagine you are reeling...since he has not put out near that many, contrary to what the loon e-mails and websites say. Try checking the Federal Register
at the National Archives site and actually counting them. Yes, you actually have to do a little research yourself.

So self absorbed. The truly honest people in the world are too busy with their lives to bother with inane acts like burning the Koran, or the US Flag, and exercising their 1st Amendment rights in a most ridiculous manner......or writing about how you support rights that 99% percent of America agrees with. Personally, I have too much to do, and have already wasted enough time writing. But I have one last thing - perhaps we should simply go back to Biblical precepts, where the mouth of the fool invites a beating, and where no one cares if you smack a fool for being a fool. That is the end of idiots who like to shoot their mouth off.

“Obama Care is not a Republican program.”

Actually it is with the basic tenets of what became the ACA being proposed by the Right Wing Heritage Foundation in the late 1980s and supported by Republicans in Congress. In fact when Clinton attempted health care the Republicans proposed a virtual exact precursor to the ACA instead of Clinton’s single-payer health care system and every Republican member of Congress pushed that very concept for years nd years – until Obama agreed to go along with them.

“Regardless of the origins of the law, the majority of Americans do not approve of it.”

A curious statement considering the millions of Americans who are signing up for it and those of us who like the ACA. But then again hyperbolic nonsense based on zero facts has long been the way of the righties.

A simple question for anyone who can answer.

Obamacare was voted in by all Democrats. Legal anyway. However, Obama has changed the bill that was originally voted on 19 times since then. I cannot possibly believe that is legal. Comments please?

And now he wants it funded with the 19 changes that WERE NOT VOTED ON after he made them. This is NOT the original bill, why should funding it be approved. Has anyone ever heard of this happening in the past?

The lies by him are stunning. Can keep your own policy (lie), will go down $2500 a year per person (lie), can keep your own doctor (lie).

After reading many of his 900+ executive orders, I am still reeling from them.

Eventually, the American people will have to wake up to the fact, we have been turned upside by this POTUS. It has been a turmoil since day one. And he doesn't seem to get it that there are three parts to our government, not that he is the king.

The big problem today is the uninformed voter and I found out today how bad it is.
I did some work for an elderly couple that pay little attention to the news and get most of what they know from the Bill Maher show.
I ask if they knew that Bill was an atheist and they shrugged it off....they said he is so smart.
I ask what they thought of Obama and they think he is a very nice looking Black man and that is about it....they say that Obama care is going to take care of them the rest of their lives.
What a shame that we are being led down the path of destruction by people like this who vote.
I tried to tell them my thoughts on Obama and what I see happening and they just didn't want to hear it....oh well!

"Obama Care is not a Republican program. "

It is a Republican idea. That cannot be denied. Don't know where you get your facts from.

Obama Care is not a Republican program. It passed congress with ZERO Republican votes. Don't know where you get your information, but you may want to consider changing sources.

Regardless of the origins of the law, the majority of Americans do not approve of it.

study the Swiss democracy and

And in Australia you must vote, it's

I think you are right about our justice and lack of. We have the best legal system money can buy. If you have money that is.

Thank you Mr. Shepherd, everyone indeed does have the right to voice their opinion.
We live in the greatest country in the world contrary to what the current president says and while we are not as perfect as some distractors and self proclaimed people think they are, there is no other country quite like ours.
There are those that complain and do nothing then you have the ones that do things to help bring about change and never complain.

There is an injustice I would like to speak out about and that is the Congress with a 10 percent approval rating has decided to send 800,000 hard working people home for the time being because they can't act like adults and work together to solve our countries problems. Obamacare is a republican program and that is a fact. If any one doubts that all you have to do is look at the facts and past statements, everything in it was proposed by Republicans in the past. These people are not patriots they are traitors. If anyone should be sent home for not doing their job it's Congress.

Yet you read his letter, commented on it and complained about his complaining.
