Whitbeck died Monday July 24, 2000, in Phoenix after a three-month illness.

He was 71.


Whitbeck was born Aug.

1, 1928, in Clifton Springs, N.Y.

He was in the United States Army for 20 years, serving in Japan, Korea, Germany and the Panama Canal Zone.

He also was active in such organizations as VFW Post No.

3516, American Legion Post No.

22, 31st Infantry Association (Polar Bears), Eagles, Elks and Moose Lodges.


Whitbeck is survived by: his wife, Jeanne Whitbeck of Kingman; five sons, Gary Whitbeck of Suisun City, Calif., Ross Whitbeck of Rochester, N.Y., Pat, Alan and Mike Whitbeck, all of Canandaigua, N.Y.; one daughter, Linda Lee of Bullhead City; three stepsons, Steven and Douglas Cross of Phelps, N.Y., and Kenneth Croll of Geneva, N.Y.; one sister, Jean Condit of Newark, N.Y.; and 14 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Ruth Whitbeck, one sister, Doris Overslaugh, and one son, Davy Whitbeck.

A memorial service for Mr.

Whitbeck will be held at 10 a.m.

Wednesday Aug.

2, 2000, at VFW Post No.

3516 at 2826 Wikieup St.

Burial will be at 3 p.m.

Friday Aug.

4, 2000, in National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona in Phoenix.
