Teen suspect in crime spree to change plea

One of the four defendants charged in a series of armed robberies and assaults March 1 agreed to change his plea Monday.

Mohave County Superior Judge Steven Conn set May 23 for a change of plea hearing for Telly Wyasket.

Wyasket, 17, originally pleaded innocent to seven counts of armed robbery and one count of aggravated assault.

He is being held on $100,000 bond.

Wyasket's co-defendant, Doyce Warren, also was in court Monday but rejected a change of plea agreement negotiated by his attorney.

Warren's omnibus hearing, when a trial date likely will be set, was postponed to Monday.

Warren, 18, is charged with seven counts of armed robbery, three counts of attempted armed robbery and four counts of aggravated assault.

He is in custody on $18,000 bond.

Trial dates for two other co-defendants, Jason Hensley and Dustin Edgell, have yet to be set.

Hensley, 19, also is charged with seven counts of armed robbery, three counts of attempted armed robbery and four counts of aggravated assault.

He is in jail on $100,000 bond.

Hensley's next hearing had been scheduled for today.

Edgell, 17, is charged with six counts of armed robbery, two counts of attempted armed robbery and two counts of aggravated assault.

He is in custody on $10,800 bond.

His omnibus hearing is set for Monday.

Wyasket and Edgell are being charged as adults

If convicted, Hensley could be sentenced to up to 23 years in prison for armed robbery and 17 years in prison for attempted armed robbery and aggravated assault.

Warren, Wyasket and Edgell could be sentenced to up to 21 years in prison for armed robbery and 15 years in prison for attempted armed robbery and aggravated assault.

Hensley has a prior theft charge, which could add time to his sentence.

The four were arrested March 9 and charged with robbing three juveniles at the Firefighters Memorial Park on March 1, police records show.

Edgell and Wyasket have been charged with attacking a carnival worker in the 2600 block of Fairgrounds Boulevard a short time later and robbing him while Warren and Hensley waited in a car down the street, police records show.

Hensley, Warren, Wyasket and Edgell also were charged with robbing and assaulting several victims at the Kingman Junior High School later that night, records show.

Hensley, Warren and Wyasket were charged with attacking a motel guest in the 1200 block of West Beale Street, police records show.

Hensley and Warren also have been charged with a Jan.

22 baseball bat attack on a Kingman couple at Centennial Park, police records state.
