Fire causes minor damage to business

DOLAN SPRINGS ­ A business sustained minor damage to an awning and back porch area from a fire Saturday. Chief Dave Estenson of the Lake Mohave Ranchos Fire Department said three units and five personnel from his agency responded to the call. Upon arrival, they found employees had put water on the fire and it was smoldering.

There were no injuries at the business in the 15500 block of Pierce Ferry Road. Damage was estimated at less than $500, and the fire is believed to have started due to a carelessly discarded cigarette.

Man seriously injured in rollover

KINGMAN ­ A 75-year-old man sustained severe injuries Sunday when the vehicle in which he was riding rolled over at milepost 51 while traveling westbound on Interstate 40.

Engine 31 responded to the scene after receiving the call about 10:32 a.m., a news release from the Kingman Fire Department stated.

KFD and River Medical ambulance personnel treated the victim at the scene before taking him to Kingman Regional Medical Center.

He later was flown to University Medical Center in Las Vegas and admitted with critical injuries. The accident is under investigation by the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
