Library computers boosted with extra memory, software

KINGMAN Patrons of the Mohave County District Library in Kingman will soon have more services available to them on public-access computers.

Mike Massie, library specialist, has been working to upgrade seven Dell computers and three Gateway computers since the library received a $4,000 donation a month ago from the Kingman Friends of the Public Library.

All 10 computers are being upgraded from 256 megabytes of memory to 512 megabytes. Work was completed Friday on three of them.

"We're upgrading all of them to Windows XP Professional System," Massie said. "Some of the processors are different among the 10, but the added memory will speed up everything."

Windows XP has greater memory capacity that makes it a more efficient system than the old Windows '98, he said.

While Massie is doing most of the work himself, he is getting added support from the county's information technology department. To read story, see a copy of Wednesday's Kingman Daily Miner.
