David R. Johnson

David R. Johnson, a 14-year resident of Kingman, passed away in his home on Sept. 6, 2005. Born in Charlotte N.C., on Aug. 2, 1925, David Johnson worked as a pastor for the Dolan Springs Baptist Church. He also served in the Air Force as a chaplin until his discharge at the rank of major.

David R. Johnson is survived by his wife of four years, Jessie Johnson; his two daughters, Joy Dauthit and Jan Burchfield of Ardmore, Okla.; his three sons, Jonathon Johnson of Ocala, Fla., Jeff Johnson of Pensacola Fla., and Jed Johnson of San Antonia, Texas; his sister, Helen Fulk, of North Carolina; and seven grandchildren.

David R. Johnson earned a bachelor's of arts degree at Bob Jones University in Cleveland, Tenn., and a master's degree of divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary of Fort Worth, Texas.

Services were held Sept. 10. Arrangements were made by Sutton Funeral Home.

Richard James Gallagher Sr.

Richard James Gallagher Sr. (Dick) passed away Sept. 7, 2005, at 83 years old peacefully at home following a long illness in the presence of his loving wife, Esther C. Gallagher.

Richard was born Nov. 11, 1921, to Doris May Wilcox and James P. Gallagher of Waverly, Iowa. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1942-1945. He spent his life as a welding engineer for McDonald Douglas, retiring from Bowing.

Richard was a longtime member of the Elks local #468. He loved traveling in his motor home and spending years as a chapter member for F.M.C.A.

Dick spent the last five years of his life out of retirement as a salesman for a longtime friend, Perry Trotter, of Trotter's R.V. here in Kingman.

Mr. Gallagher is survived by his wife of 18 years; three sons, Richard A. Padilla and his three children of Stockton, Calif., Michael A. Ellis and his two sons of Peach Springs, and Larry A. Ellis Jr., and his four children and their five children, all of Kingman; one beloved daughter, Diruie Thurber, and her three children Randy Thurber, Lisa La Rocco and Lorie La Racco and their five children, all of San Diego; son Richard James Gallagher Jr., and his four children and their two children of Quitman, Texas.

Mr. Gallagher is preceded in death by his parents, one sister and his daughter-in-law, Loraine Ellis.

There will be no services or visitation for Mr. Gallagher. His cremated remains will go home with his loving wife.

Lyles L. Striegel

Lyles L. Striegel, 87, passed away on Aug. 31, 2005. Lyles was born on March 22, 1918, in La Moure, N.D.

Lyles is survived by her husband, Charles H. Striegel of Kingman; two daughters, Georgia (loco) Kimmell of Gold Bar, Wash., and Darla Pappel of Limon, Colo.; two sons, Kent Van Nurden of Kingman, and Ronald Van Nurden of Moses Lake, Wash.; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Two sons, Paul and Harvey; one daughter, Georgianna; one sister, Adell; and two grandsons. Victor Wayne and Corey Daniel, precede her in death.

Lyles enjoyed her animals, gardening, cooking and fishing. She also loved to entertain friends and family. There has been a private memorial service.
