Josephine "Billie" Schafer passed away Monday, Nov. 27, 2006, at her residence in Golden, Colo. She would have been 89 on her birthday, Dec. 13.
She was a resident in Valle Vista for 18 years and was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Edward Schafer in 2004. Survivors include their four daughters, Barbara (Rex) Roadhouse of Moore, Okla.; Helen (Thomas) Tucker of Show Low, Ariz.; Dorothy (Bob) Coyne of Golden; Claire (Jerry) Nokes of Rice, Wash.; and their families.
Billie was very active in the Valle Vista community and spent many hours volunteering her time and talents. She was a member and past president of the Valle Vista Ladies Golf Club.
Private services were held in Colorado.
Joyce L. Baker
Joyce L. Baker, 88, of McMinnville, Ore., died Saturday, Dec. 2, 2006, at Parkland Village, McMinnville.
She was born July 21, 1918, daughter of Everett and Leora Keeler McMullin, in Erickson, Neb. She attended school in Burwell, Neb.
In 1940, she moved to Laramie, Wyo., and worked on the railroad during WWII.
She married Harold A. Baker on May 15, 1948, in Oklahoma.
After marriage, the Bakers lived in Wyoming, Missouri, Idaho, California, Nevada, Washington, Oregon and settled in Kingman in 1970.
She moved to McMinnville in 2006 to be near her daughter.
She enjoyed embroidering, needlework, canning, playing cards and games, and watching the "Price is Right."
She dearly loved her children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husband Harold in 1980.
Joyce is survived by three sons, John Baker, Jim Baker and Rick Baker, all of Kingman; two daughters, Darlene Martin of Kingman and Margie Brame of McMinnville; one brother, Neil McMullin of California; and two sisters, Minnie Brasher of Cheyenne, Wyo., and Anna Holden of Yerington, Nev.
She is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be a 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 6, at Sutton Memorial Funeral Home with Pastor Sam Crouch officiating.
Interment will be at Mountain View Cemetery, Kingman.
