Robbery suspect back in Kingman

Bauer shot last week at Golden Valley drug store

GOLDEN VALLEY - The Golden Valley man who allegedly committed armed robbery of an Uptown Drug store in Golden Valley was taken into custody by Mohave County Sheriff's deputies on Monday after being released from the University Medical Center in Las Vegas.

Cordon Ree Bauer II, 34, was transported and booked into the Mohave County Jail on two counts of attempted homicide on a police officer, two counts of aggravated assault on a police officer, armed robbery, burglary and possession of a weapon by a prohibited person.

The felony charges resulted from an incident on Friday when Bauer allegedly tried to rob the store of money and drugs. He entered the building through the roof before dropping out of the ceiling and confronting a pharmacist and clerk with a .45-caliber semiautomatic handgun, according to the Kingman Police Department.

The Mohave County Sheriff's Office has requested KPD investigate the incident to ensure impartiality in the officer-involved shooting.

About 8:54 a.m., MCSO responded to the scene in the 4200 block of Highway 68. Four employees were in the business when Bauer demanded cash and pseudoephedrine. Pseudoephedrine, which is an ingredient in cold medicine, is also used to make methamphetamine.

Bauer reportedly fired one shot inside the store. He then allegedly forced the pharmacist to open the front door and told him to pull up a car in which he could flee.

When he opened the door, the pharmacist shouted at people outside to "run, he has a gun," according to the Kingman Police Department. Three Sheriff's detectives and a deputy in a marked patrol car were on scene and approached the door when Bauer ran out of the store toward the marked patrol car and allegedly fired nine shots.

Detectives fired at Bauer and he was hit by at least three bullets. His wounds are not deemed life-threatening. Bauer was taken to Kingman Regional Medical Center, where KPD detectives were able to interview him before he was airlifted to University Medical Center in Las Vegas.

Nobody inside the business was injured, nor were any law enforcement personnel hurt.

Bauer was also charged with a fugitive from justice felony warrant issued out of Clark County in Nevada.

The three detectives involved in the shooting have been assigned administrative duties until a preliminary internal review of the incident is made by the MCSO.
