KINGMAN – Kingman Police are searching for a man who made off with a bank bag from a business in the 2200 block of Hualapai Mountain Road on Monday night.

About 7 p.m., Kingman Ranger, the Arizona Department of Public Safety air rescue helicopter, was called to assist in searching for the suspect, paramedic Mike Stoddard said. Ranger personnel spent about one hour searching the area without finding him.

The suspect walked into the store’s office, grabbed the bag containing an undisclosed amount of cash and fled on foot, Sgt. Rusty Cooper of the KPD said.

He is described as a white male, about 6-feet tall with long dark hair. He was wearing a dark-colored sweatshirt with white T-shirt beneath it at the time of the felony theft incident.

Anyone with information about him should call the KPD at 753-2191 or Silent Witness, which offers a reward, at 753-1234.

WIKIEUP – Arizona Department of Public Safety officers arrested Gene Getty, 27, of Phoenix on Saturday on a felony charge of possession of marijuana.

About 3:20 p.m., Getty was stopped for failing to yield to an emergency vehicle on the shoulder of the road at milepost 132 on Highway 93, a news release from the DPS stated.

Getty had an odor of marijuana about him and after questioning was placed under arrest. A search of his vehicle allegedly turned up two bags of marijuana.

Getty was booked into Mohave County Jail.
