Two are arrested on suspicion of murder

KINGMAN – Mohave County Sheriff’s detectives arrested Kingman residents Brian Gifford Dugan, 22, and Elizabeth Orozco, 20, early Monday on a charge of second-degree murder.

About 6 a.m. Sunday, two people traveling in a vehicle along a dirt road south of Kingman Airport spotted a body and called the MCSO, spokeswoman Trish Carter said.

Deputies and detectives responded to the scene and found a dead male adult with trauma to his head. Detectives termed it a “suspicious” death and opened an investigation.

Dugan and Orozco soon were identified as suspects, although Carter declined to say how.

An attempt-to-locate broadcast on them went out to local law enforcement agencies.

About 11:30 p.m. Sunday, Kingman Police detectives located Dugan and Orozco at a pay phone in the 2400 block of Kingman Avenue, Sgt. Rusty Cooper said.

They were driven to MCSO headquarters, where sheriff’s detectives interrogated them. About 12:50 a.m., detectives finished questioning the suspects, arrested and booked them into Mohave County Jail.

An autopsy was performed Monday by the Mohave County Medical Examiner to determine the victim’s identity and cause of death. His name will be released following identification and once next-of-kin are notified.
