Eugene "Gene" Theel of Kingman passed away Thursday, Sept. 28, 2006, at Kingman Regional Medical Center. Gene was born July 17, 1936, in Pipestone, Minn., the son of Bernice Theel and the late Ernest Theel.
Gene entered the Navy after high school in 1954 and was discharged in 1957.
Gene met his wife, Judie, in Minneapolis in May 1958 and they were married on Nov. 9, 1958. They moved to California in 1959. Gene worked for Genuine Parts Distributors until 1983 when he moved to Kingman to open The Bike Shop. He sold the business and officially retired in 1998.
Gene is survived by his wife, Judie; his mother, Bernice of Pipestone, Minn.; three children, Lori (Wes) Anderson of Victorville, Calif., Cheri (Ryan) Grosz of Redlands, Calif., and Dan (Trini) Theel of Kingman. He also leaves behind six grandchildren, Jake and Cara Anderson of Victorville, Calif., Lynn Grosz of Redlands, Calif., and C.J., Garett and Tanner Theel of Kingman. He is also survived by four brothers and one sister, Larry (Carol) Theel of Jacumba, Calif., Marilyn (Tom) Mogensen, and Doug Theel of Pipestone, Minn., Bill Theel of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Randy (Cozy) Theel of Reno, Nev., as well as many nieces and nephews. All his family and friends will miss him.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 6, at Sutton Memorial Funeral Home, 1701 Sycamore Ave., Kingman. Immediately following the service, a celebration of his life will be held at the home of Dan and Trini Theel.
