Bomb threat probe ongoing

Police have few leads to chase week after courthouse evacuated

KINGMAN - The investigation into the bomb scare at the Mohave County Superior Court in Kingman is still ongoing.

The Kingman Police Department made a copy of the 911 tape available to local radio stations hoping that someone would recognize the voice of the unidentified caller.

Sgt. Rusty Cooper of the KPD said the department has received a few tips about the incident. They are investigating the tips but do not have any suspects yet.

Last Wednesday, the courthouse was evacuated when a bomb threat was called in. A cell phone call came into the KPD around 10: 40 a.m. An unknown male caller claimed that a bomb had been planted in the courthouse and was set to explode at 11:30 a.m. Police immediately notified Mohave County Superior Court Security. The order to evacuate the courthouse was given around 11 a.m.

Personnel from KPD, the Sheriff's Office and a bomb-sniffing dog were on the scene shortly after the call was received. No bomb was found.

Cooper encourages anyone with information about the incident to call the KPD at 753-2191 or Silent Witness at 753-1234.
