Charles Mobley Meadows, who was 88 and resided in Kingman, died Monday, April 2, 2007, at Kingman Regional Medical Center from congestive heart failure. Charlie, or California Charlie as he liked to be called by his friends, was born Oct. 9, 1918, in San Diego and graduated from Grossmont High School in El Cajon, Calif., in 1937.
Charlie and his wife, Dody, moved to Kingman in 1988 from Capitola, Calif., where he had retired in 1982 as a manufacturing engineer for more than 25 years for the airline and aero space industry. He was a faithful member of St. Mary's Catholic Parish.
Charlie is survived by his son, Robert John Meadows and his wife Melinda; his daughter, Bonnie Meadows Sacilotto; stepson, John Francis Ihrig and wife Mary Lou; grandchildren, Jeffery John Sacilotto and wife Deborah, Robert John Meadows II and wife Jennifer, Dina Lea Leman and husband Danial; step-granddaughter, Teresa Ihrig; and his great-grandchildren, Marrisa Meadows Leman, Trever Meadows, Tyler Meadows and Samantha Meadows; and step-great-grandchildren, Matthew and Megann Meadows.
He was preceded in death by his father, Carlos Meadows; his mother, Mary Kearns Buttler; his beloved wife, Dorothy Paulene Meadows; and his granddaughter, Jennifer Jill Sacilotto.
There will be a Rosary at 6 p.m. at Sutton Memorial Funeral Home at Sycamore and Western in Kingman with visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 10. On Wednesday, April 11, at 11 a.m., there will be a Memorial Mass at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 302 E. Spring St., with a reception in the Parish Center following the service. Interment will be at 1 p.m. on Thursday, April 12, at Greenlawn Cemetery, 201 E. Gillette, El Centro, Calif.
