Las Vegas man arrested in Dolan Springs shooting

KINGMAN - A 40-year-old man was arrested in Las Vegas Tuesday in connection with a Dolan Springs shooting.

Las Vegas Metro Police arrested Michael James MacFarlane, 40, of Las Vegas on a felony warrant issued by Kingman Justice Court on charges of attempted first-degree murder and aggravated assault.

Around 3:11 a.m. on July 23, Mohave County Sheriff's detectives and deputies responded to a weapons-offense call in the 5900 block of 17th Street.

Upon arrival, deputies found Dennis Waller, 63, of Dolan Springs injured with multiple gunshot wounds on a roadway adjacent to his property.

Initially, detectives did not know the identity of the suspect. Through a witness, they were able to identify MacFarlane.

Investigators have determined MacFarlane, who said he needed assistance with his vehicle, woke Waller, who went outside to assist.

A short time later, MacFarlane allegedly shot Waller and then walked away from the scene.

MacFarlane was booked into the Clark County Detention Center in Las Vegas on local charges along with the felony warrant.

MacFarlane must face charges in Las Vegas before he will be extradited to Mohave County.

He could legally fight the extradition.

McFarlane's Mohave County bail has been set at $1 million.

Waller is listed in critical condition at University Medical Center in Las Vegas.
