KINGMAN - Two separate accidents kept Pinion Pine Firefighters busy dealing with cases of head trauma Wednesday.
About 2:46 p.m., an engine and two firefighters responded to a call to meet a vehicle at the intersection of Interstate 40 and U.S. 93 regarding an industrial-type accident on a ranch, firefighter Ken Milner said.
"A ranch hand was using a grinder when the blade broke off and struck him in the head," Milner said. "It split open his nose and embedded in his face."
Firefighters prepared the victim for transport but did not remove the blade. He was taken to Kingman Regional Medical Center by ground ambulance.
No further information was available.
A call for another accident was received about 4:53 p.m. and sent an engine and two personnel to milepost 115.5 on U.S. 93.
A southbound vehicle rolled over and its male driver suffered head trauma. He was taken by ambulance to KRMC, Milner said.
DOLAN SPRINGS - Fire caused about $5,000 damage to a singlewide mobile home Wednesday.
About 9 a.m., three units and six personnel from the Lake Mohave Ranchos Fire Department responded to the residence at the intersection of Pierce Ferry Road and Mariposa Drive, Chief Dave Estenson said.
Firefighters observed heavy smoke coming from the structure upon their arrival. The fire was contained to the ceiling area of the kitchen and living room.
Two male occupants of the home and two dogs escaped without injury.
Firefighters remained on scene about 90 minutes. Cause of the fire was an improperly installed wood burning stove chimney, Estenson said.
