Sick of seeing lives wasted for political gain

After reading the article in the Jan. 5 edition of the Daily Miner, "Guard troops having to flee border encounter with armed individuals," I'm appalled and incensed at the very idea that our National Guard troops, who are supposed to protect our borders from armed incursion, are sent to monitor surveillance equipment while not being allowed to carry weapons to protect themselves.

It's a sad day in this country when our government refuses to protect our border against armed and unarmed incursion.

The very fact that they send our troops to the border without the weapons necessary to protect themselves and our citizens tell me that the politicians in both Washington and Arizona don't give a damn about the safety of either our soldiers or our citizens.

I am sick and tired of seeing the lives of our military and civilian personnel being wasted for political gain.

Turn our military loose and let them do what they do best.

It's time for us to unleash the power of our military so that they can destroy those who seek to destroy us and all that this great country stands for.

Close our borders before it's too late.
