KINGMAN - On Friday afternoon, Mohave County Jail detention officers reported that after returning from court with inmate Andrew Anthony Santiago, 27, of Kingman, they were taking off cuffs and shackles when he started swinging at and punching them. Officers said Santiago was holding a shank, a piece of plastic sharpened to a point.
Santiago refused officers commands to drop the weapon. A Taser was eventually used to restrain him.
Santiago was charged with two counts of aggravated assault on detention officers, two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon or instrument, and possession of prohibited item in jail, all felonies.
Santiago has been in custody since Feb. 23, when he was arrested for failure to register as a sex offender, a felony. While incarcerated, Santiago was charged on April 6 with felony criminal damage when he allegedly damaged a sprinkler head. On May 2, he was charged with aggravated assault on a detention officer and prisoner assault with body fluids, a felony, when he allegedly spit and kicked at a detention officer.
On May 7, he was charged with two counts of aggravated assault on detention officers, felonies, when he allegedly punched and head-butted detention officers. And on June 29, he was charged with aggravated assault on a detention officer, a felony, when he allegedly punched a detention officer.
KINGMAN - Around 4 p.m. on Wednesday, the Kingman Police Department arrested Sandra L. Faylor, 36, of Kingman on a felony warrant for a second-degree burglary charge and a misdemeanor failure to appear warrant.
Faylor was located at a residence in the 500 block Simon Avenue. The burglary charged originated from a residential burglary report taken on April 11. Faylor was being sought on this warrant.
Also arrested at this same residence was Jose Juan Guel-Oliva, 39, of Kingman. Guel-Oliva had a felony fugitive from justice warrant out of Maricopa County and a misdemeanor contempt of court warrant out of Kingman Justice Court.
Guel-Oliva was also charged with felony possession of dangerous drugs when he was allegedly found to be in possession of methamphetamine.
The homeowner, Charlene Susan Motley, 37, of Kingman, was also arrested. Motley was charged with felony possession of drug paraphernalia after assorted items were allegedly found in her home. All three were booked into the Mohave County Jail. Additional charges are pending further investigation.
KINGMAN - At 5:10 p.m. Wednesday, the Kingman Police Department arrested Anthony Valentino Gomez, 36, of Kingman for felony aggravated driving under the influence, misdemeanor threatening and intimidating, and misdemeanor harassing by telephone.
KPD had responded to a two-vehicle crash on Airway Avenue just west of Stockton Hill Road. It was discovered that a car being driven by Gomez had crashed into the back of another car, driven by a Kingman woman.
Gomez is reported to have threatened the woman. He then left the scene on foot. Responding officers located Gomez in a nearby field. He appeared to be intoxicated and allegedly made threats against officers.
It was discovered that Gomez had a warrant for a previous incident of telephone harassment, reported to KPD on May 21. There were no serious injuries in the crash. Gomez was booked into the Mohave County Jail.
KINGMAN - Mohave County Sheriff's deputies arrested Phillip Paul Hill, 54, of Golden Valley early Monday afternoon on a felony warrant for escape issued by Mohave County Superior Court.
At approximately 1 p.m., Hill came into the Mohave County Sheriff's Office to turn himself in on his outstanding warrant. Deputies contacted Hill and a records check confirmed Hill to have an active warrant. Hill was taken into custody without incident. He was transported and booked into the Mohave County Jail.
KINGMAN - Mohave County Sheriff's deputies arrested Kevin Darnell Higdon, 44, of Kingman, Saturday evening for possession of dangerous drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia, felonies.
At approximately 9:18 p.m., deputies responded to a disturbance in the 3100 block of Northfield Avenue. Deputies contacted Higdon.
A search of Higdon and his vehicle allegedly revealed a glass pipe with residue, a syringe with liquid residue and a plastic bag containing a white crystal substance. Higdon was taken into custody and booked into the Mohave County Jail.
KINGMAN - Around 12:05 a.m. on Tuesday, the Kingman Police Department arrested Thomas Edward Valdez, 42, of Kingman on a felony warrant for probation violation out of Mohave County Superior Court.
Valdez was contacted while he was walking in the 900 block of east Beale Street. He was booked into the Mohave County Jail.
KINGMAN - Kingman Police arrested Randall B. McMorran, 42, of Lake Havasu City on Saturday on a felony charge of aggravated DUI.
McMorran was contacted during a traffic stop in the 400 block of W. Beale Street, a news release from the KPD stated. A records check found McMorran had a revoked license from a prior DUI offense. He was booked into Mohave County Jail.
KINGMAN - Kingman Police detectives are investigating a possible gunshot incident.
Officers responded to Kingman Regional Medical Center on Sunday to talk with a 17-year-old with a possible gunshot, a news release from the KPD stated. The victim said he was walking in the 1700 block of Airway Avenue when he heard a "pop" noise and felt what he thought was a BB pellet strike him in the stomach. Doctors were not immediately able to confirm the type of projectile.
The injury was superficial and non-life-threatening.
