Missing children found in Oregon

KINGMAN (AP) - Three children taken from Kingman by their mother, who doesn't have legal custody, were found safe in southwestern Oregon, authorities said Saturday.

Sandra Shaffer, 34, was in custody in Oregon on a felony warrant of custodial interference, according to the Mohave County Sheriff's Office.

Authorities said Shaffer and the children were found at a home in Riddle, Ore., around 3 p.m. Saturday.

The children - 11-year-old Marcel, 10-year-old Brittany and 9-year-old Krystal - were taken to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office in Oregon and were to be reunited with their father as soon as possible, authorities said.

Shaffer was denied custody of the children by an Oregon court last year with full custody granted to their father, authorities said.

The children's father, whose name was not immediately released, also lives in Kingman.

He told authorities that Shaffer, who is his ex-wife, took the three children to dinner on Tuesday and did not return.

Mohave County authorities issued an Amber Alert on Friday for the children.
