Arthur Edward Buss, 97, of Golden Valley died Saturday, Nov. 10, 2007, in Golden Valley. He was born March 20, 1910, in Canandaigua, N.Y., and came to Mohave County two years ago from Graeagle, Calif.
He earned a bachelor's degree in business administration at Armstrong College, Berkeley, Calif., and worked for the federal government as a civilian employee of the U.S. Navy from 1937 to 1973 as a security and fire protection specialist and fire chief. He was a life member of the International Association of Fire Chiefs and Western Fire Chiefs Association. He was a member of several Masonic Lodges, Scottish Rite, York Rite, The Royal Order of Scotland, Red Cross of Constantine, Knights York Cross of Honor, Ben Ali Shrine, Order of the Eastern Star, Past International President of High Twelve, received a degree of Doctor of Public Service from George Washington University in Washington, and was a member of Calpine Elks, Graeagle.
Arthur is survived by his stepdaughter, Frances (Edward) Ulrich of Kingman; his stepsons, Donald (Pam) Williams of Orange, Australia, and Thomas Williams of Auburn, Calif.; nieces, Nancy (John) Vert of Chico, Calif., and Mary (Jim) McGeary of Santee, Calif.; and nephew, Kenneth (Nevaline) Mitchell of Bakersfield, Calif. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Arthur was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Elizabeth; his second wife, Frances; his brothers, Kenneth Buss and Stanley Buss; and his sister, Doris Mitchell.
Visitation will be at 10:30 a.m. and the service will follow at 11 on Monday, Nov. 19, at Sutton Memorial Funeral Home, 1701 Sycamore Ave. Burial will be in Escalon, Calif.
