KINGMAN - A motorcycle rider was airlifted to University Medical Center in Las Vegas with multiple-systems trauma following a two-vehicle accident Wednesday. A paramedic engine and a battalion chief with the Kingman Fire Department responded around 11:30 a.m. to the intersection of Andy Devine Avenue and Shangri-La Drive. The 54-year-old male rider was traveling westbound on Andy Devine Avenue when a sedan driven by an elderly woman struck the motorcycle in the rear, Battalion Chief Bill Johnston said. The rider, who had no evidence of wearing a helmet, was transported to Kingman Regional Medical Center before being airlifted to UMC with serious injuries. The sedan traveled several blocks down Shangri-La Drive after the collision before stopping, Johnston said. Alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the accident and the Kingman Police Department is investigating, he added.

KINGMAN - Mohave County Sheriff's deputies arrested Jimmy Junior Smith, 51, of Kingman Nov. 18 for resisting arrest and a misdemeanor. At approximately 9:42 p.m., deputies responded to a loud music call in the 4700 block of Powell Avenue and contacted a male subject at the residence who reported that Smith, his brother in-law, was drunk and standing on the front porch yelling. Deputies contacted Smith inside the residence. As deputies were taking Smith into custody he resisted numerous times. Deputies got Smith to the ground and he continued to resist by kicking and attempting to crawl under a table. Deputies eventually restrained Smith. Smith suffered injuries during the struggle and was transported to Kingman Regional Medical Center, where he was treated and released. Smith was transported and booked into the Mohave County Jail without further incident.
