Joe F. Henson Jr., 82, of Kingman died Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2007, in Kingman. He was born Aug. 24, 1925, in Kennett, Mo. He came to Kingman 17 years ago from Lompoc, Calif. He was a heavy equipment mechanic.
Joe was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy (1943 to 1946) as a ship fitter, third class. He was honorably discharged and received the Victory Medal, Asiatic Pacific Medal and American Theatre Medal. Joe was a member of Melody Assembly of God and served on the Advisory Board and in Men's Ministry.
Joe is survived by his wife of 59 years, Winona Henson of Kingman; one daughter, Joyce (Garry) Uhles of Gold Canyon, Ariz.; two sons, Larry (Diane) and Terry (Rae) Henson, both of Kingman; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 10, at Sutton Memorial Funeral Home, 1701 Sycamore Ave. The service will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 11, at Melody Assembly of God Church, 3980 N. Melody Lane (off Gordon). Interment will be at 10:40 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 12, at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City, Nev.
Joe will be remembered by family and friends for his great physical and spiritual strength. He was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and friend. He touched the lives of all whom he met.
