KINGMAN - A grand jury indicted Dr. Ilangovan Govindarajan Thursday on nine counts of sexual abuse and nine counts of aggravated assault. An arraignment hearing has been scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Thursday.

The Kingman Police Department arrested Govindarajan on March 27 after receiving reports of the doctor allegedly touching subordinate female co-workers inappropriately.

On April 2, the Arizona Medical Board agreed to allow Govindarajan to continue to see patients in his private practice, as long as a licensed female provider acts as a chaperone when he sees any female patients.

The board also required Govindarajan to submit to an inpatient psychosexual evaluation within 30-days and comply with all requests of the evaluator.
