CASA seeks volunteers to speak on behalf of abused children

MOHAVE COUNTY - Every year in Mohave County, hundreds of children are abused and neglected and end up without a home to call their own.

But the Court Appointed Special Advocate program of Mohave County is helping make a difference. The non-profit organization trains volunteers to speak for the children's best interests in court, and to find safe and permanent homes for them.

CASA volunteers develop and maintain a trusting relationship with an assigned child or children, report to the judge and follow cases through the criminal proceedings.

Anyone older than 21 who possesses good communication skills and good judgment can volunteer. Candidates are screened and participate in a two-day training at the Arizona Supreme Court. CASA pays all expenses.

To volunteer, call 753-0795.
