Mother, juvenile son arrested

KINGMAN - Mohave County Sheriff's deputies arrested a 17-year-old juvenile and his mother, Kitty Kyl Hollister, 44, both of Kingman, late Saturday afternoon. The juvenile was arrested for possession of dangerous drugs for sale and resisting arrest. Hollister was arrested for hindering prosecution and resisting arrest. At approximately 4:30 p.m. deputies responded to a disturbance in the area of Ames Avenue and Marshall Street where they contacted three female subjects. According to the MCSO, the women were trying to recover a friend's vehicle from a residence in the 3300 block of Boquillas. Deputies went to the residence where they met the juvenile. The juvenile told deputies he was watching the car for a friend. Deputies later found out that the owner of the vehicle had sold it to the juvenile. While speaking with the juvenile deputies noticed that the 17-year-old appeared to be very nervous and put his hand in the front pocket of his pants. According to the MCSO, deputies asked the juvenile to pull his hand out of his pocket and asked if he had any drugs or weapons on him. The juvenile ignored the deputies' commands. The deputies then reached for the juvenile's hand, but the teen pulled away. Deputies then attempted to subdue the juvenile. The juvenile folded both of his hands under his stomach and refused to comply.

According to the MCSO, at that point Hollister ran out of the house yelling at deputies. As deputies continued to struggle with the juvenile, Hollister approached them. At one point, the juvenile got up from the ground and ran toward the house. According to MCSO, deputies tried to stun the juvenile with a Taser gun, but the gun did not fully connect. Hollister followed the juvenile into the house and then blocked the doorway when deputies tried to follow. She was taken into custody. Deputies located the juvenile inside the house. A bag containing methamphetamine was found outside the front door of the house. Hollister was booked into the Mohave County Jail. The juvenile was booked in the County Juvenile Detention Facility.
