GV residents catch alleged mail thief

GOLDEN VALLEY - A Golden Valley man could be facing federal mail theft charges.

Mohave County Sheriff's deputies arrested Jerrod Craig Garn, 22, of Golden Valley Wednesday evening after two unknown residents detained him after they allegedly caught him stealing their mail. At 5:07 p.m., deputies responded to the 7300 block of Bolsa Drive in reference to a subject stealing mail. Upon arrival, deputies observed two men standing next to a vehicle with another man inside the vehicle.

The two men outside the vehicle told deputies they had detained the man after they found him stealing mail. Deputies identified the man in the back seat of the vehicle as Garn. Garn allegedly admitted to taking the mail. A folded piece of paper was found in Garn's right hand. The bindle contained a white crystal substance which tested positive for methamphetamine.

A records check showed Garn to have an outstanding warrant.

Garn was arrested on suspicion of felony possession of dangerous drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia and failure to appear warrant issued by Mohave County Superior Court.

According to MCSO, the postal inspector will be seeking federal charges for the theft of the mail.

Garn was taken into custody and booked into the county jail.
