Merle and Kathy Quimby will celebrate 60 years of marriage on New Year's Eve. They met and were married in Banning, Calif., on Dec. 31, 1948. Merle was in the military at the time, stationed at March Field, Riverside, Calif. He had just recently returned from overseas in the Alaskan theatre of operations. He and Kathy met in May of '48 and were united in December. Kathy was 19 and Merle was 20. They both say they raised one another through the years. Merle and Kathy were church pastors for 50 years, of which 22 years were here in Kingman at the Foursquare Gospel Church. They both are still active in the church. Merle has been on retired status since 1998, but that is only a term used, as Merle says he is not retired, but refired. They will celebrate their 60th Anniversary with their church family on New Year's Eve. They both say that these 60 years have been the greatest together, and they would gladly do it again if it were possible.
