Drive safely this holiday season

KINGMAN - The Arizona Department of Public Safety is advising all motorists to exercise caution on highways in northern and eastern Arizona.

These areas are experiencing cold air temperatures, heavy snowfall, slippery and icy road surfaces. Motorists should use extreme caution when traveling at elevations above 5,500 feet.

As of Wednesday morning, the Arizona Department of Transportation had closed State Route 260 between State Route 273 and 373. In order to get to the city of Greer, motorists will have to travel eastbound on US60 from Show Low to Springerville and then doubleback westbound on State Route 260 to Greer.

Motorist can travel to the Sunrise Ski Resort on state Route 273 but cannot travel east of that junction area.

Snow chains or four-wheel drive vehicles are required between Hondah and the Sunrise turn-off at the Route 273 junction.

US180 is closed north of Flagstaff between Kendrick Park and Valle.
