Leona M. Katzenmeier Schulz Coffey, 88, made her transition on Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2008. She was born July 18, 1919, in Ellsworth, Kan. Leona and Werner L. Schulz were married on Jan. 1, 1940, until his death in 1976. She married Kenneth C. Coffey on Sept. 10, 1977. Leona was a member of Cross of Christ Lutheran Church. She was a gentle, loving woman and she touched so many lives with her quick smile, her inner strength and her devotion to God.
Leona is survived by Ken, her loving husband of 31 years; her children, Wayne (L.J.) Schulz of Thorton, Colo., Jacque (Jim) Carruthers of Yuma, Robert (Anna) Schulz of Olympia, Wash., and Darryl (Sandi) Schulz of Rocky Ford, Colo.; her grandchildren, Mike, Chris, Tom, Eric, Scott, Stephanie and Jason; and five great-grandchildren.
There will be a private memorial service and interment will be in Yuma.
Leona's family is thankful for the loving care she received by Dr. Joe and the Kingman Regional Medical Center staff. The family respectfully requests that in lieu of food or flowers, donations may be made in Leona's memory to their favorite charity.
