KINGMAN - The Mohave County Sheriff's deputies arrested Zachary John Thurston, 37, of San Francisco Thursday evening for aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer and destruction or injury to public jail.

At 10:53 p.m., deputies responded to the Mohave County Sheriff's Jail, 415 Pine St., in reference to a criminal damage in progress. Upon arrival, deputies observed a male subject standing in front of the lobby with handfuls of rocks, which he then threw at the deputy patrol unit.

With the assistance of a Kingman Police officer, deputies conducted a high risk contact and took the suspect, identified as Thurston, into custody. Deputies were advised by Mohave County Jail staff that Thurston was seen entering the garage area of the jail and he utilized a chair to break a mirror off the pillar. Deputies observed fragments of glass on the ground by the center pillar. Deputies were also advised that Thurston was released earlier from the Mohave County Jail at about 6 p.m. Thurston was incarcerated on Feb. 4 for possession of marijuana. Thurston was booked into the Mohave County Jail without further incident.
