The Board of Supervisors will hear the tales of two correctional facilities during its meeting Tuesday.
The Board will consider approval of a $74 million lease-to-own agreement with FaulknerUSA, Austin, Texas, for a new 266,000-square-foot jail, which is planned to house 688 inmates. It will be built behind the current County Administration Building.
The lease-to-own agreement is similar to the one used to pay for the administration building.
FaulknerUSA will design, build and lease the jail to the county, which will use sales tax revenue to cover costs.
Also on the agenda for Tuesday's meeting is approval of the proposed prison in Dolan Springs. The Board has continued this item twice in order to give Mount Tipton Water and Corrections Corporation of America time to work on a possible water agreement.
The Board meeting begins at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, due to Monday's holiday, in the County Administration Building, 700 W. Beale St.
