Betty Lou (Hunt) Thomas, 70, of Golden Valley died Sunday, Feb. 17, 2008, in Kingman. She was born Nov. 26, 1937, in Webster City, Iowa, to Roscoe and Emma Hunt and came to Mohave County 15 years ago. She was raised on a farm in Missouri. She graduated from Newtown-Harris High School in 1955. She attended Kirksville Teaching College and taught elementary school in Newtown and Harris before moving to California. On Dec. 1, 1957, she married Gene Thomas; to this union they were blessed with two children. They retired to Golden Valley.
Betty is survived by two daughters, Lisa (John) Thomas of Henderson, Nev., and Sheila (Don) Bare, also of Henderson; four grandchildren, Chelsea Noah, Brian, Jason and Danielle Bare; and three great-grandsons, Brayden, Jayden and Gavin. She is also survived by her mother, Emma Hunt of Unionville, Mo.; three brothers, Basil (Pat) of St. Louis, Mo., Ronald (Cheryl) of Princeton, Mo., and Donald (Carol) of Newtown, Mo.; one sister, Melanie (David) Finley of Stet, Mo.; one sister-in-law, Maureen Hunt of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Thomas, along with her father, Roscoe Hunt, and brother, George Hunt. Her smile and laughter will be dearly missed.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 23, at her home for family and close friends.
