Commission to address wind turbines

As promised, a text amendment that would extend the city's rules on small wind-energy systems is on the Planning and Zoning Commission's agenda Tuesday night, although it could still be several months before a policy is implemented.

Although the commission has a rather light agenda this week, it is likely to have a packed crowd, as the topic of wind turbines within Kingman city limits continues to attract more and more followers.

The issue was discussed during the June meeting, and commissioners were given packets of background information on the issue. They vowed to return this month to discuss the issue further, then advertise a public hearing before implementing a policy.

The commission will also consider a request from Mohave Engineering Associates for an extension of time on the Vista Bella Ranchitas preliminary plat. And, the only other item on the agenda, the commission will discuss a zoning ordinance modifying the procedures for revoking city-issued conditional used permits.

The meeting begins at 6 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 310 N. Fourth St.
