Prizes part of Dolan Open Trails Day

DOLAN SPRINGS - On June 7, the community of Dolan Springs and surrounding area supported the DSCC-Open Space Trail System 5th National Trails Day Event.

Since June is quite warm in Dolan Springs, organizers tried something new this year. They had the pancake breakfast at the Community Hall, and after the breakfast moved all activities to the park for the first recreational swap meet.

The following agencies and organizations had displays: AZ Trails Association with Mike Hayes, Bureau of Land Management with Ann Seney, Mohave County Parks with Sharon Horn, AZ Game & Fish with Zen Mocarski, and Dolan Springs Open Space Committee.

The following vendors were present: Ned Curry of Sand Rail, Adventure Concierge with Blue Lizards and tourist information, Vic T's Shirts with T-shirts and other merchandise, Back Country Horseman of Chloride with horse-related items, Dolan Springs Open Space with camping- and horse-related items and Tacos Mariana with Mexican food.

The following politicians also were present: Norty Turchen, Lee Fabrizio, Melissa Havatone and Gary Watson. Each of them won raffle items.

The following sponsors supported the event: Dolan Springs Community Council, VFW Post 9833, Cerbat Gem, Hometown Crier, Ace Hardware, The Land Office, KTH Consulting, Classic Chocolate, Adventure Concierge/Bump over the Hill, The Ranch Club, Swire Coca Cola and Reddy Ice.

Doris Norcross won $29 in the 50/50 drawing. Raffle winners were: Fran Bateman, Hickory Farm Package and poncho; Ingrid Purder, buffet for two at the Pioneer Hotel and Gambling Hall, plus two nights at the Riverside Resort; Jill Devine, Hickory Farm Package; Joanna Archer, T-shirt from Tacky Stuf 4 Horses, a Hickory Farm Package and one grooming at Happy Tails; Melissa Havatone, book from Pense Publishing; Evelyn Tobin, Granny's Champagne Brunch at the Pioneer; Laura Lantz, dinner for 2 at the Pioneer; Garnet Beckman, a woven purse from Tacky Stuf 4 Horses; and Gary Watson, a saddle pad from Tacky Stuf 4 Horses.
