Annual Easter egg hunts take place this Saturday

Easter Sunday is almost here, and the Kingman Parks and Recreation Department, collaborating with Wal-Mart, is planning a number of events to celebrate the holiday.

Children can share "Breakfast with the Easter Bunny" at the Golden Corral Buffet & Grill from 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday. Discount breakfast coupons are now available at the Parks and Recreation Office, 3333 N. Harrison Road.

Two Easter egg hunts will follow. The first begins at 10 a.m. at Metcalfe Park, and the second starts at noon at the Centennial Park ball fields.

Both hunts will be open to all children and divided between ages 4 and under, 5 to 7, and 8 to 10. A hunt for children requiring special assistance will be held on Field 4 at Centennial Park.

Thousands of plastic and candy eggs will cover the grass at both parks, including special golden eggs which will be redeemable for grand, first, second and third place prizes.

Following the Centennial Park hunts, there will be an egg toss for anyone ages 11 and up. The last pair standing with an unbroken egg will win another prize.

Taco Bell and Wal-Mart are also sponsoring Easter coloring forms, which are available now at all local schools.

Children have until Wednesday to draw their best artwork and submit it to the Parks and Recreation Office. Winners will be announced and prizes awarded after the noon hunt at Centennial Park.
