DUI manslaughter case hits snag in obtaining records

KINGMAN - A hit and run case from November may be on hold a little longer.

Marian M. Hoffman, 56, of Kingman is charged with felony manslaughter and criminal damage following a hit and run in November that led to the death of a 53-year-old Kingman man.

During a status hearing Friday, April 25, Hoffman's attorney said that she had not yet received the medical records from the accident.

On Nov. 21, Hoffman allegedly hit Joseph M. Lortie's motorcycle near Andy Devine Avenue and Shangri La Drive.

She was allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol at the time.

Lortie, 53, of Kingman died Dec. 1 at Sunrise Medical Center in Las Vegas after suffering severe head injuries from the accident

County Attorney Rostyslav Saciuk said his office was having difficulties acquiring the hospital's records, and a subpoena may be required.

Commissioner Lee Jantzen continued the case until 10 a.m. on May 23 in order to allow the state enough time to get the records.

Hoffman could receive more than 28 years in prison if found guilty of all charges.
