KINGMAN - The Kingman Daily Miner would like to ask each and every one of our loyal readers to go fly a kite.

The Miner's 18th annual Kite Flying Extravaganza will take place at Centennial Park from 3 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 6. The event is free and open to all, though the location has changed slightly from previous years. In order to avoid interfering with baseball practice, this year's kite flying will take place at shelter No. 2, alongside Harrison Street and next to the Parks & Recreation Department offices.

The Kingman Police Department will be on hand with McGruff the Crime Dog as a special guest. The Mohave County Sheriff's Office also will be present with its DARE vehicle. The event is being sponsored by the Kingman Elks Lodge and Kingman True Value Hardware.

For more information, call the Miner's advertising manager, Colleen Machado, at (928) 753-6397, extension 238.
