DPS stops wrong-way dune buggy on 93

KINGMAN - Several Golden Valley residents were bugged out about a dune buggy Sunday on U.S. Route 93.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety received several calls around 7:30 p.m. Sunday about a dune buggy headed the wrong way on 93. DPS officers and Mohave County Sheriff's deputies found the vehicle traveling northbound in the southbound lanes near milepost 49, about 25 miles from Kingman. When a DPS officer tried to stop the vehicle, the dune buggy hit the officer's vehicle. The officer was not hurt.

The dune buggy then traveled for another two miles before colliding head on with a truck driven by Carlos Armijo, 22, of Tucson. Armijo and his three passengers were not injured.

The driver of the dune buggy, Jerry Reed, 68, of Golden Valley was transported to Kingman Regional Medical Center for injuries. DPS believes alcohol may be a factor. Criminal charges are pending.
