Column: Valle Vista prepares for the holidays

If you plan to have Thanksgiving dinner at the Clubhouse this year, make sure you have your reservations in by 3 p.m. Monday. The dinner will be a buffet served from noon to 5:30 p.m. Thanksgiving day. Call the restaurant for more information or to make a reservation.

The Valle Vista Library will have the Children's Story and Craft Hour at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. The theme this month is Thanksgiving.

Any special holiday items that Valle Vistans want to send to the soldiers being "adopted" by the Valle Vista Library need to be deposited in the donation box by Saturday so they can be collected and sent to the troops in time for the holidays.

There will be bingo at the Clubhouse at 7 p.m. Monday. Everyone is invited to attend.

The Park and Pool Committee is planning the annual Christmas parade on Dec. 13. Any type of vehicle can be entered in the parade. If you would like to enter, sign up at the Clubhouse or contact a member of the Park and Pool Committee.

The Coed Bogey Bunch had its annual Club Championship on Oct. 31. Bernie Phillips is the Ladies Club champ, with Arlene O'Briant the runner-up. Larry Beal is the men's champion, and Buck Joseph came in second. Congratulations to all the winners.

On Nov. 12, the Men's Club had 35 members play to a four-man blind-draw progressive. The results were: First place - Mike Back, Dale Glenn, Bill Slankard and Rob Johnson with a net 110; second place - Jerry Philpot, Bud McDonald, Elix Beale and Tom Groh with a 111; and third place - Dave Collins, Dan Hopping, George Chivas and Len Druian with a net 112.

Closest to the pin went to Oscar Foster on Hole No. 2, Len Druian on 7 and 11, and Bud McDonald on 16.
