Art appraisal expert at Mohave Museum

The Mohave Museum of History and Arts at 400 W. Beale St. will be holding appraisal days from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Merlin Carlson, owner of the Old Adobe Gallery in Flagstaff, will be on hand to appraise all Southwestern art, historical and contemporary.

Carlson's 30 years of Indian arts and crafts expertise spans a whole range of cultural artifacts, from Navajo weavings to Hopi kachinas to Pueblo pottery, as well as bead work, jewelry, sand paintings, baskets and sculptures. His appraisals are being offered for information and evaluation purposes only, and not for insurance or donations.

Carlson has rendered his services for free to the museum, however, a $10 donation fee will be charged for each item appraised. To make an appointment, call (928) 753-3195.
