This weekend, November 1 - 2nd, St. Mary Roman Catholic Church will celebrate the Solemnity of All Souls (All Souls Day). The weekend Mass schedule is as follows:
Saturday, November 1st: 8:30 AM - 9:30 AM Reconciliation; 9:00 AM First Saturday Devotional Mass - Kingman; Vigil of the Solemnity of All Souls; 4:00 PM Vigil Mass - Dolan Springs; 6:00 PM Vigil Mass - Kingman
Sunday, November 2nd: 8:00 AM Mass - Kingman; 10:30 AM Mass - Kingman
St. Mary parish will celebrate a Vigil Mass for All Saints on Friday, October 31st , at 6 PM at the Church. On Saturday, November 1st, at 9 AM, there will be a First Saturday Devotional Mass on the Solemnity of All Saints. All Saints is not a Holy Day of Obligation this year.
On Saturday, November 1st, the Vigil of the Commemoration of All of the Faithful Departed (All Souls) will be celebrated with a 4 PM Mass at Our Lady of the Desert Mission in Dolan Springs; and a 6 PM Mass at St. Mary Church in Kingman. Just a reminder: The All Souls Intention Book will be in the vestibule of St. Mary Church this weekend. Be sure to list the names of your departed family members and friends in our Intention Book!
The food drive for Operation HO(PE), a Christmas food basket program co-sponsored by St. Mary Catholic Church, the St. Vincent de Paul Society and the Kingman Area Food, will begin this weekend, November 1- 2, 2008. Bins will be available in the vestibule of the Church at all weekend Masses through the second weekend of December. Your donation of food or funds may also be brought to the the Parish Center, located at the corner of 3rd and Spring Streets in downtown Kingman, during regular office hours.Your gift of canned and nonperishable food items will help those in need during the holiday season! Note: Sign-ups for the Christmas food baskets will begin at 9 AM on Monday, December 1st, at St. Vincent de Paul Client Services Office (next to the Thrift Store at 218 E. Beale).
Important Note: There will be no daily Mass on Monday or Tuesday, November 3 - 4th, as Father Matthew will be in Phoenix on these dates. Our regular daily Mass schedule will resume on Wednesday, November 5, 2008. For information on our daily Mass schedule, please call the Parish Office at 753-3359.
Everyone is encouraged to pray on their selection of candidates and on the various initiatives that will be decided in the upcoming election. Be sure to vote on November 4th; let your voice be heard!
First Friday will be observed on November 7, 2008, with Masses at 8 AM and 6:00 PM at St. Mary Church in Kingman. Anointing of the Sick will be held during both Masses for those practicing Roman Catholics who are aged 65 or older, or are seriously ill. Confessions will also be held from 5:00 PM to 5:45 PM on this date at the Church.
A reception will be held at the Parish Center on Saturday, November 8th, immediately following the 6:30 PM Mass to recognize Joe Feilen for his years of service to St. Mary parish. Everyone is invited to attend! Best wishes, Joe, on your retirement!
Congratulations to Ricardo J. Gonzalez, the Youth Program Director for St. Mary Parish, who will be ordained as a Permanent Deacon of the Roman Catholic Church for the Diocese of Phoenix on Saturday, November 15th, at 10 AM at Saints Simon and Jude Cathedral in Phoenix, Arizona. Bishop Thomas J. Olmsted will be the celebrant of the Mass of Ordination. Everyone is invited to attend!

Religious Education classes have begun! If you have not yet registered your child or youth (grades Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 12), please call the Parish Center at 753-3359. Just a reminder: children and young people who have received Sacraments are encouraged to continue their participation, so that they may learn more about our Roman Catholic Faith!!!
The St. Vincent de Paul Society is now distributing FREE coats and jackets to those in need. The coats and jackets were donated to the Fall Coat Drive. If you need a coat for the winter, please stop by the St. Vincent Thrift Store, 218 E. Beale, from 9 AM to 2 PM on Mondays, Wednesdays or Fridays.
The Knights of Columbus council #3145 sponsors a Boy Scout Troop in Kingman. The troop meets on Thursday evenings at 7 PM at the Knights of Columbus Hall, located at 2255 East Butler Avenue. Troop membership is open to all boys ages 12 through 18 years of age in the area regardless of which Church they attend. For information, contact the Parish Center.
The Christmas Jail Ministry program is now beginning to prepare for the annual Christmas Gift Bag project. Gift Bags are made up for men, women and juveniles incarcerated in Mohave County facilities during the holidays. The Gift Bag is a reminder of the love of God for all of His people. We need to prepare 550 Gift Bags this year. Volunteers are needed! Bins will be provided in the vestibule beginning next weekend for your gifts! The following items are needed:
- new Word Find, Crossword Puzzle books, Coloring Books; please remove all staples
- appropriate men's and women's magazines, religious or secular; please remove subscription cards and cardboard insert pieces
- individually-wrapped hard candy pieces
- 550 large brown grocery bags with handles
- Donations of funds to purchase needed items are appreciated!
Work session dates (to prepare/sort/count materials) will be held on November 14th and November 21st from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM at St. Mary Parish Center, located at the corner of 3rd and Spring Streets in downtown Kingman. The final assembly date for the Gift Bags will be December 5th, from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM at the Parish Center.
