Letter: ASU snubbed President Obama

No honorary degree for President Obama at ASU because his accomplishments aren't established yet? The president is good enough to speak to the graduating students, but not good enough for an honorary degree? You've got to be kidding me. Going from community organizer to being elected president of the United States in a short period of time is an accomplishment in its own right.

For this man to courageously take on the disastrous economy, two wars, global warming, Iran, North Korea, as well as other dire situations across the globe, and address them with dignity, eloquence, decency, diplomacy and common sense, he deserves all the credit, recognition and honor there is to be had.

Could it be the decision of the college to disregard President Obama's achievements was because the college is in Arizona - John McCain country? I tend to believe this, rather than the lame excuse that Obama hasn't proven himself yet.

He's proven himself more in the past two months than Bush proved himself in eight years. I believe that the decision not to award President Obama an ASU honorary degree is yet another "no" by the Republican community.
