Letter: D.C. politicians not doing their jobs

Regaining my equilibrium has been difficult after hearing America's intention to increase troop strength in Afghanistan instead of bringing our women and men home by ending our longest-ever overseas war.

Regarding Afghanistan, I want to hear: America is beginning a withdrawal of troops, halting all offensive operations against the Taliban and improving living conditions in areas not controlled by the Taliban, supporting negotiations and reconciliation among all Afghan groups, even the Taliban, and lastly expand aid to Afghans and pursue diplomatic efforts to achieve regional security.

Annual costs for the ongoing conflict in the Mideast is estimated to be $1 million per active duty soldier. And we can't afford healthcare for all?

Come on, Washington leaders, do your job!
