KINGMAN - Shaila Schmidt, 18, a senior at Kingman High School, was recently selected as a Student Rotarian by the Kingman Rotary Club. Her parents are Jay and Raelene Schmidt.
Shaila said that she feels completely honored by being selected. She has worked really hard to get where she is and it's great to be recognized.
Among her honors, awards and extracurricular activities are: Future Business Leaders of America - executive council, past president and honorary officer; secretary of National Honor Society and interactive treasurer; Guide Dawg/Student Ambassador; Teen Court participant; blood donor; and street drags.
The topic of her presentation to the members of Rotary was "What Motivates Me." She plans to further her education at Boise State University in Boise, Idaho, majoring in Political Science. She plans to eventually become a lawyer and/or a politician.
