KINGMAN - A road trip hit a bump for a man in Kingman when his rental car caught fire. The Kingman Fire Department responded to a single vehicle fire at 1:33 a.m. on Tuesday at a motel in the 3000 block of East Andy Devine Avenue. A late model PT Cruiser convertible caught fire in the early morning while the driver slept in his room. The damage was contained to the interior of vehicle, and firefighters cleared the scene approximately one hour later. The cause of fire is under investigation, though initial reports attribute the cause to equipment malfunction.

KINGMAN - An abandoned garage caught fire when a mattress was lit on fire. The Kingman Fire Department responded to the report of a structure fire near the intersection of Van Buren Street and Emerson Avenue. Upon arrival, firefighters found a fire in the 20-foot-by-20-foot abandoned garage and sole structure on the property. The source of the fire was a mattress, which caused minimal damage to the garage. Firefighters quickly extinguished the flames and cleared the scene in less than an hour. The cause of fire is under investigation, though initial reports attribute the cause to arson.

KINGMAN - Kingman Police officers arrested Phillip John Wilson, 22 of Kentucky Monday evening on a felony warrant out of Kentucky and misdemeanor false reporting to law enforcement. Officers contacted Wilson in the 2700 block of Ricca Court after it was reported that Wilson was soliciting magazine subscriptions in the neighborhood. Wilson initially provided a false name to avoid detection of the warrant. Wilson was booked into the Mohave County Jail.
